Take a look at the Yaesu FT991A . It will do what you ask all except for the 1.25m band. I've had mine, for three years now.
Great! Thanks. I don’t have any 1.25m stuff and don’t know of anyone who does anyway. There was a 1.25m repeater in the area a few years ago but I don’t know if it is still operational.

Forgot to comment on my earlier post in this thread.

Also hard core VHFers use stacked beams, amplifiers, and preamps to pull out that weal signal from a rare grid square. Hams on VHF/UHF exhange grid squares unlike other bands when they exchange States or countries.
Ok. I probably won’t do much QSO or contesting type things, basically just looking for something to use locally that’s more interesting than FM or digital to me.

Ok on all. During VHF contesting when will be the maximum number of operators on this band.

Going foward you really don't need to take part in contesting, but you can always make a lot contacts during them and it's great way to get contacts from rare areas that are not on the air that much. You just need to know the exchange required, plus it helps the ones in contest get contacts and new multipliers.

Yep, I’ve done contesting before and made some long distance contacts, but not much since I just got into HF recently and most of my HF experience is at my local radio club. Thanks for the info.

There will be a fair amount of VHF & UHF activity on Field Day. The contacts are basically bonus points, since the rating of the site is based on HF radios.

Having a rotatable beam helps. Horizontally polarized for SSB & CW, and vertically polarized for FM.

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned either a Yaesu FT-857D, or FT-897D. Both are great radios and are old enough to be found for cheap. Also, the 847 is a good radio, but it's not really small enough to be considered a mobile.

This is more just for experimenting and fun with friends, I don't think there's a ton of SSB use around me. If its an HT I'll just hold it sideways.
You will need some local friends to talk with. Otherwise, no one will likely hear you. You are better off using a vertical polarization antenna for local work with your friends.
