Within a couple of hours it was gone. I reported his other auctions of the day later and they too were deleted.

Excellent work Scott! As an aside to all this, I do have a question for the masses though. Can someone explain to me the real need or benefits to having your feedback hidden - that is if you are above board and an honest dealer? What is there to protect if you're on the up and up? Unless someone can give me a sound reason, I firmly believe that is one option that Ebay should not allow. What say ye?

Alan, I agree with you. If you have something to hide, then of course you will see it the other way, but if you are honest in your transactions and your feedback, then you should support an open policy. My own experiences on eBay are limited (6 transactions, all purchases) but I am proud of my feedback.

I would never deal with someone that hid the feedback. You could not tell if the reason they gave you was true or not. As a buyer I just use all the caution I can, and if smells the least bit, then no way.

He's Back Again!!!!!

I just received an email from an individual who was taken for $3250 by Mr. Crack. He promised 10 BCD396T's and now he made of with this guy's money. He did send me a list of AKA's of Mr. Crack. I looked one up on a Google search and this is what I found on eHam.net:
10 Victims of Jon Schell of Elkhart IN & count Reply
by KD3GM on May 19, 2005 Mail this to a friend!
On March 9, 2005 I purchased an Icom IC-706 MK II G from a gentleman who had advertised on the Hamtrader.com web site, http://hamtrader.k1dwu.net/ by the name of Jon Schell of Elkhart IN. It was a part-cash, part trade deal for $250 + a RS DX-394 SW Receiver After numerous attempts to contact him, I have still not received the rig as promised and shortly after my attorney sent him a threatening letter he has now had his phone disconnected. It seems that once Mr. Schell is discovered on a particular website and banned, he moves to a new one to continue business-as-usual, so

I am personally aware of at least nine additional victims(including their names, call signs and email addresses)of this fraud so far and have initiated both criminal and civil action against this individual. One victim in particular sent his only rig, a Kenwood TS-940S and a Postal MO for the difference in "trade for an FT-1000 and has never received anything.

Beware, this scam is nothin less than "Theft by Deception"

If you are aware of any other victims of fraud perpetrated by this man, please direct them to the Elkhart City Police Department at 574-295-7070 and speak to Detective Steve Price.

Update: The office of the Attorney General filed suit against Jon Paul Schell, on behalf of the state of Indiana in Elkhart County Circuit Court. On July 29, 2005, The parties entered into an Agreed Entry (no contest plea) where restitution will be paid.

If you are a victim of Mr. Schell and were not included in the class of victims in this case, I strongly urge that you contact the Indiana Assistant Attorney General Terry Tolliver at (317) 232-6257.

TNX to all who helped out in this case!

Hello.
By the way: he changes up his name alot. When you search on the internet use "Paul Schell" and "Jon Schell" and sometimes "Paul Jon Schell" or "Jon Paul Schell".
I have other info on him to if needed such as phone numbers, address, etc...

EBAY should change it's policies on hidden feedback, maybe after the dealings of Mr. Crack they will. There is no reason to hide feedback

why would any sane person continue to deal with a person that hides their feedback. i think it is best if eBay continues to let them do that so we know who not to deal with.

He has actually agreed to pay restitutuion!!!?

July 29th, 2005?

This must have been for other scams unrelated to his sale of the 10 BCD396T's, because the sale took place in spring of '06.

Also class action!!!? Just how many people were involved in this suit last year?

The poor bugger who was just taken for $3250.00 this spring will probably have to go through the court process to see if he can get his money back.

I actually hope he sees some jail time this time around. Obviously he never learned his lesson last year and went right back to defrauding honest hard working people of thier money.

Regards,
Richster.
