Help installing Firmware 1.08.01 to Uniden BCD996P2

I would like to know if anyone can assist me on how to install the Firmware update 1.08.01 on my BCD996P2 scanner. I hear there is an uploader that you
need before you can install the Firmware. Much appreciated if anyone can supply information such as where to get the firmware uploader and firmware update.

did you follow the instructions to the letter, it easy and only takes a few minutes.

John you will also need to download and install the Uniden Serial Driver look at WINDOWS DEVICE MANAGER to see what com port the scanner is and set that to the com port in the software program.

The Uniden Web site instructions aren't too clear. The Web site says:
These are the installation Steps from the Uniden Web site:
Download BC_VUP3 Firmware Updater for DMA Scanners, unzip the file, then run the installer to install this utility. Then, run the utility and follow the on-screen prompts to select the scanner model and firmware version to apply.

When I unzip that folder, I see a folder labeled BC_VUP_V3_03_00. Inside that folder is a setup.exe file and a Setup_BC_VUP.msi file.

The only reason I selected the Setup_BC_VUP.msi file is because it was the closest match to what the instructions say to select: Run the BC_VUP3 utility.

It would have been nice if the instructions mentioned selecting the Setup_BC_VUP.msi file rather than to Run the BC_VUP3 utility.

I think it would be a bit clearer for people if it read: Installation Steps
Download and unzip BC_VUP_V3_03_00.zip. Find the extracted files and open the BC_VUP_V3_03_00 folder. Click on the BC_VUP3.msi file, select Install. Once the utility is installed, go to your Start Menu and select BC_VUP3 to run the utility and follow the on-screen instructions.

And here are some instructions for installing that driver (from the Uniden Web site):

1. Download and unzip the above driver.
2. Plug in the scanner using a USB cable.
3. Right click on the Windows Launch icon (bottom left corner) and select "Device Manager."
4. The device shows up with a yellow triangle.
5. Right click on device and select "Update Driver Software."
6. Select "Browse My Computer for Driver Software."
7. Navigate to the folder where you have unzipped the above driver.

The driver installed and is assigned as: Uniden Serial Port (COMx)
(x) will be replaced with the actual port number.

This link has pictures that might help you also. Just make sure you unzip the folder before following these instructions from Scannermaster's Web site.

I had a problem with the BC_VUP software not linking to the server which I figured out to be the Spectrum wireless router/modem and the security settings. Resetting the router firewall settings solved the problem and the firmware updater worked perfectly.

Thanks, @NVAPORMAN , for bringing this topic up, and my thanks to all who responded with assistance. Now I know how to update my BCD325P2 firmware--and probably get the DMR update

And once that software is downloaded and installed, you won't have to install it again if there's another firmware update!
