Uniden will survive without me buying the upgrade, I will survive without it.
I'm not one of these guys connected 24/7, with up to the minute info on updates. The whole thing was handled a bit shabbily if you ask me, no precise dates were ever posted that I'm aware of, just obscure "mid-August give or take a couple weeks".
I'm aware that the blog I pointed to is official uniden, all the more reason why they should take down talk of $49.99, since that is no longer an option. Its dated, yes - Dated things are revised and/or taken down all the time.

As far as a "Christmas Sale" , that was spoken tongue in cheek. Sure ain't holding my breath, it seems reasonable to assume that once spike sales drop down to nothing, they'll drop the price of the upgrade before releasing HP2.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the pre-order info about the update/upgrade posted like 3 weeks before it was released? Even if I'm not on 24/7 it would be on me if I missed the release with that much lead time.

The question is when are those of us that have already paid for the privilege to unwittingly be beta testers going to get actual fully functional, as advertised, upgrades.

It was released almost two full weeks ago. Are you waiting for Uniden to download and install it for you, or what? :p

Need a bit of help please?

Hello All.

I think I really messed things up with my Sentinel software. (Try not to laugh too hard :p) I have Windows 7 Home Premium. I bought the Extreme upgrade/update from Uniden before the release date. I also have the full version of Butel's ARC-PATROL v.2 now. Now, when I tried to use the virtual control in ARC-PATROL v.2 nothing would happen-I did select 'usbcom' at the bottom of the virtual control window, and so I have posted previous questions, and I did a little reading on this issue and I realized that I was supposed to download the Uniden serial drivers. But I am not sure what to do with the drivers after I download it. Do I open the proper driver and copy and paste the script somewhere or what? Where do I download Sentinel 2?

Thanks Sheldon.

I had to copy and paste the serial driver to C-Windows-system 32-drivers. After that with hp plugged in and on serial port, go to device manager and browse to the folder where the driver is and install driver. If firewall tries to block it, let it through.

Xray:I guess you haven't looked at that blog, today.

Neither here nor there.
I posted yesterday, and yesterday the $49.99 was not lined out - Proves uniden is proactive when it comes to covering their butts anyhow.

Have no interest in bickering with fanboys, enjoy your upgrades.

Best links for Update/Upgrade downloads

Actually the best page for all of the update/upgrade downloads and instructions is Paul's HomePatrol-1 Extreme Update / Upgrade Instructions page. It includes the links for the Sentinel download, both of the new manuals and the serial drivers download.. Only thing not on that page are the Technical Documentation docs and the three "proof of concept" engineering utilities (start here to get them)..

Paul: It''s getting a little confusing with all the places that have some of the stuff on them....(hope it's OK for one of the "fanboys" to complain )

Can you open the zip file to see what's inside? We can probably walk you through the rest if you can do that.. There is no installer executable to copy them. If you can open the zip file and you have administrative access on your computer, we can give you the steps....

Hi.

Forgive me for the stupidity earlier. I been trying to get the virtual control in the ArcPatrol to work ever since it was released and just been getting frustrated and I tend to forget more when I get frustrated. I like to see things through to the end though. I now have Sentinel v.2 installed again. However I notice that when I bring up the update firmware window it does not show my ESN number. And virtual control is still not working.

Sheldon.

Sentinel won't show the ESN unless it can talk to the HP1 via the USB cable/port in mass storage mode..
Have you completed all the steps on the Extreme Update page ?
Was the firmware update on the HP1 completed?
When you've done all of those things, including putting the USB Serial drivers in the right place, and letting Windows install the drivers by plugging the USB cable into the HP1 and following the Windows instructions on installing the new driver, you should be ready to test.
When you unplug and plug the cable in again, the HP1 should ask you if you want to use Mass Storage or Serial mode. Select serial mode and ArcPatrol virtual mode should work (note that you have to select the correct serial port and it won't be one of the ones that was on your PC before installing the USB serial driver..)

I got Sentinel v.2 to show the ESN Thanks. But virtual control in ARC-PATROL still does nothing. I assume this virtual control works alot like the virtual controls in other ARC software such as ARC-XT where a person can actually press the virtual buttons as if they are pressing the real buttons on the scanner?

When you unplug the HP1 USB and plug it back in, does the HP1 ask you if you want to use Mass Storage or Serial mode now? If you're reading the ESN you're in Mass Storage Mode, you want it in Serial Mode....(unplug the cable and plug it back in). This is assuming of course that you've completed all the steps on the Upgrade page we referred you to, including putting the serial driver in the correct place.
Once you've got the HP1 in serial mode, start ArcPatrol, start the virtual control up and select the correct serial port (down in the left hand corner)...

Note - I just started AP up and there is a new version available...V2 build 3..Looks like some appearance items, not sure what else. I don't see any more control features available..

I need to know exactly where do I and how do I put the Uniden serial driverin System32?
I too downloaded the ARC-PATROL update today.

Thanks Sheldon.
