Re: UpMan comment about an update to highly requested tweaks .. I hope one is the Unit ID rename NOT overriding the channel name .. I hope, I hope ..

I'd like the Submenu Popups on the screen to either stay up longer or have a settable delay. By the time something goes from my eyes to my brain, gets processed and back to my fingertips, the durn thing's gone.....(and my reaction time isn't that bad yet, around 190 msec. on a drag racing practice tree)..

Sheldon:
I don't use MSN or any of the PM clients (I don't Tweet or Facebook for that matter, no smart phone, just too stubborn to give in to them new-fangled things )...Sorry

You are aware that the only thing the Virtual scanner can do is put the three lines on the screen in "hold" mode - right?

Also - this is really steering away from the original intent of the thread now - you might want to open one up in the Scanner Programming forum, where Butel can respond...

Unless I missed it, anyone notice that the radio ID's do not update as the radio users change? Mine (VHF P25 Ph1 sys) only shows the orginal radio ID.

My UID display works as well as any other UID method...of course the usual caveats apply:

Notes:
--In some cases where you catch a transmission already in progress you will not see the Unit ID.
--In some cases where a second party responds to a transmission before the channel is released, you will not see the second party's Unit ID and will continue to see the first party's Unit ID.

But the UID display works for all of the different types of systems I have tested it on (P25/Mixed Mode/EDACS)...

It works, but it doesn't update while remaining on the same TG.

For example, I am looking at a conversation going back and forth between three people. Only the first ID stays on the display. It isn't until the TG actually drops (after a scan delay) or your resume scan that the ID changes.

The CC and the radio will always transmit the ID packet of that radio, so in theroy the ID should update when the next radio xmits.

Not sure how the HP1 software is set up, but it's probably looping in the "has the carrier dropped?" routine and not looping back through the "what's the UID?" routine....which would be followed by the "has the UID changed ?" routine and the "display the UID" routine...none of which lead hopefully to the "Reboot of Death" routine....:wink:

edit:
Another thing I'd like to see is on trunked systems, if the Department is "unknown", that it'd display the Site ID , so we could at least figure out which tower was involved.....Then I'd know which of the local sites to start discovery on..

I works for me most of the time. What I have noticed is RECEPTION is everything with UID's. If you don't have a really good signal it's not going to switch from user to user during a conversation.

Is anyone getting radio id's on p-25 conventional freqs. ? I think up man said the rid's would be displayed on all p-25 transmissions. I am not getting them on p-25 conventional.

I believe you need to program conventional freqs as a one frequency trunked system in order to get radio ids, just like the 996xt

UP MAN It seems like it would be much easier to just display the RID in the conventional mode like the PSR 800 does....

UP MAN...I Have another concern. I think all of the white letters or numbers displayed on the yellow backround should be changed to black..a lot easier to read !
THANX !!
