For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I already tried it and still won't take it.
Are you taking pics with your phone? You should be able to lower the resolution in the camera settings. I'm not sure what the image size limit is on Radio Reference. 10 MB? 8? I never played with the settings on my Android, but the photos it takes are generally 4 - 8 MB in size.

no I took them with my tablet. I have a "unplugged" phone. camera is disabled and it doesn't have mobile data. I like what little privacy i have!! idk how to adjust that stuff anyhow so it is what it is.

oh brother...... the CB Gods just don't like you Damion2492

I kind of twisted your arm to get the Stryker so you would have an idiot proof great working antenna....

I wanted you to have an antenna that you could just, ....put it on the roof and be pretty sure it will work great.... no wondering if it's got a good ground plane ...... or if the SWR is good enough to key up the mic..... or will the antenna talk for 8 to 12 miles

you had that and didn't have to worry about your antenna system anymore.

then using a new CB, just plug the great antenna into the back of the CB... 12 volts from the battery... the negative wire, direct to ground as close as possible to the radio... and presto.... you have a good working CB System

sadly you opened up the radios and played with them before making sure everything worked.... nothing wrong with making a modification... but generally you only do that weeks or months after everything is proven working....

sadly you also cut the antenna before you could even get the SWR meter to work ( whips are $15 bucks but have to be adjusted.. the factory one is very close to perfect 62.50 inches the replacement ones are 66 inches... the shipping on the huge Stryker whip is generally $35 bucks or more... so if it was cut too short replacing it will cost $50 bucks... ... the whole antenna cost $100 so $50 bucks to get another whip really sucks.
sounds like it was still working good enough with the truckers radio... so you hopefully avoided a problem there.

sadly again.... now you have had a truck driver take the Stryker SR-A10 apart I believe the antenna is sealed from the factory to keep water from getting into it... it has a good warranty... but now the little blue light has been removed and it's been opened up too???? I thought you could enjoy using the antenna for a few months before playing with it

it was a good idea to have the truck driver test the antenna.. good job on that..... and as you said it worked great 8 to 12 miles is Awesome....
but opening up a proven good working antenna.... this may come back to bite you later on.... I hear guys that open up the Stryker generally get water in it, and it shorts out.....

if you get everything sorted out... try to put some 100% silicone on the antenna to keep the water out.

I will be crossing my fingers for you

so, I was wrong about that stryker whip being $30, its actually $19.53! that aside, the guy i told you I found in Genesee co, MI, emailed me late last night and said IF I could be at his "shop" by 1pm today, he'd give me 15 minutes of his time! so, I made it by 1245!! 1st thing he said was my antenna was a bit to far back!! he then told me that because I have a fiberglass topper, magnetic mount antennas need to be "slightly" further forward for reflection purposes! so, I moved it forward exactly 8 inches. while was doing that, he took my 29ltdnw and put it on his equipment. RESULTS- my radio is "good", HOWEVER, it was missing a few "things", like another pot!! pls forgive me for not knowing what all he said, as he told me, 15 minutes, and I was on my way in less than 25 minutes!! as you, and others have said, I didn't buy my radio from cobra! and he showed me what you(or someone) said aboot "cobra electronics" NOT being cobra!! with that being said, he showed me a 29ltdnw he had in his stash and showed me where there was "supposed" to be 2 other pots, his had em, mine didn't, and his was, from what i couldtell betweenthe2, all stock! so, shorten this up, he said by me crankin up the modulation pot I actually did more "harm than good"! and, same with the antenna warning pot! again, I don't remember what all he said, remember, I had 15 minutes of his time!! so, he reset the mod pot to factory, and gave aboot 1/8 of a turn more. POWER TEST- aboot 2.6-2.8 at best!!! he inspected my antenna cable routing, PASSED! he inspected my wiring, PASSED! he measured the antenna distance from my topper, PASSED!! we put radio in, set swr, which BTW, needed another 1/4 cut as swr was a "tic" higher on 40 than 1. swr on 1-20-40 aren't even moving off 1, and thats on his, and MY swr meter(s)!!! BTW, the final drive in the 29lx is bad!! but NOT in the 29ltdnw!! so, with everything all hooked back up and swr readings "great", I keyed the mic AND.....BOOM, my voice was "heard"!! from his vehicle, aboot 50 feet away, which actually had the radioddity QT60 in it with a Wilson 5000, he heard me loud and clearly!!!!!!!!!! so, I moved to another channel, called out a "mic check" and, I got a response!!!!!! so in closing, im on the field!!! now, he did say I'd be "incredibly lucky" IF i could catch anyone more than 5 miles away, on a clear sky night! since its so under powered, he said highway driving I'd be able to reach out 2-3 miles, maybe 4 if no obstacles like trees etc!! he quickly explained the location of magnetic mounted antennas to me, basically unless I repainted my topper with metal flake paint OR cover the top of it with tinfoil tape, something aboot reflection wasn't good or was to much, idk, or actually remember but by moving the antenna forward away from the topper and more towards the hood definitely helped!! side note, I called my buddy and ask him about his antenna location, he measured it and it's aboot 3 inches "off center" BUT, his RAM 2500 is the "mega cab"(dodges version of Fords supercrew) so that made a bigger difference according to the guy helping me!! sooooo, im a step closer!! now I just gotta get a better radio!! and, as he said, it'd cost me aboot the same money to buy the radioddity QT40 as it would to have him rework my 29ltdnw, but he HIGHLY RECOMMEND i just buy the QT40 and then decide what to do with the 29ltdnw and 29lx!! so, im hearing voices a bit clearer AND, at a closer distance, my voice is being heard!!! NOW, he said I "might" have to buy another whip for my antenna IF I buy the QT40! but im good using it on the cobra and the swr readings are perfect!!! keep ya posted WHEN, not IF, I get the QT40 👍👍👍

You'll love the QT-40, and you'll definitely be heard. 11 meter skip is coming back up, and the QT-40 will make you a fine sideband rig as is. Not sure if you care about working DX, but at some point in the solar cycle, skip will be so strong that it can drown out the locals.

The only good CB radio person I know in Genesee County is Scott's Radio. He is in Grand Blanc. He would be the only one I would let work on my radio. He is pretty good at what he does........

lol, I dont know all those abbreviation, yet!! he said its probably one of best radios to start with given how "digital technology" is slowly drowning out the cb world! but he also said these new age vehicles are becoming so complex with all the technology the auto manufacturers are putting in them that, in his opinion, cb's more than likely won't work in them because of all the computerization!! thats why I bought an old carbureted truck a few yrs ago!! another few yrs I'll have it "zombie proof" so I figured its time to start "gettin learnt" on alternative methods of communication!!! hopefully i can get that QT40 by the middle or end of nxt month 🙏🙏🤞🤞

I bought my second QT40 on Amazon for $149. My first one is in my jeep, I bought it used from Scott's Radios. They're a great looking and performing radio.

NOW, he said I "might" have to buy another whip for my antenna IF I buy the QT40! but im good using it on the cobra and the swr readings are perfect!!! keep ya posted WHEN, not IF, I get the QT40 👍👍👍

the antenna SWR is adjusted to the vehicle not the radio.....
once the antenna is adjusted .... whatever the SWR is, we'll say .. just barely moving off 1 as you said ... it will be that way for any radio you put in the vehicle.....
you can just switch radios and not have to redo the SWR... I don't know why a CB shop would say that... the SWR is how the antenna works for that vehicle and in that location...

I know you don't want to touch anything... but honestly... as everyone on here has said....don't be afraid to move the jumper on the QT-40

also....
your best bet is Amazon.... if anything happens even after you do the modification.. you can just return it no questions asked.. even if you don't like it.... you won't have to pay any return shipping... you just bring it to your local Amazon return store ( one in every town )... no boxing it up or anything... and no cost to you what so ever.

with your luck.... it might be a good idea to have a spot you can easily and simply return it... just in case.... if you did Scotts ( Great guy, great work.... you can't go wrong ) but if you did Scotts .. one you will pay for his service and have to pay for shipping......and if something went wrong, you would have to box it up and pay to send it back... and wait for him to get it all sorted out... and pay for shipping again

at Amazon you can return it within 30 days... order another one and it will be at your door in 2 days.

as for Amazon not being good quality... all the radios come from Radioddity in China.... doesn't matter if you get it from Amazon ... direct from Radioddity or from Scotts... all are the same radios ( I know Scotts will check it out).... but it's unnecessary as all the QT-40 are pretty damn good out of the box.

Radioddity normally gets $199.99 .... Versus $159.99 at Amazon...
I know money is tight for you.. why waste $40 bucks.

buying it from Radioddity you get an 18 month warranty from Radioddity
... if you buy it at Amazon you only get a 12-month warranty from radioddity.... but I have not heard of anyone needing warranty work... so the 12 months warranty will be more than enough..

You don't need to pay somebody $25-$40 to open the QT40 and move a simple jumper to enable the 11 meter band. You can do it yourself in a matter of 5 minutes.

yep, ive already watched a few vids of that radio and see the first thing guys do is move that from the "123" to the "23" spot. but since im still learning, I'd probably send it out to at least have it checked out to make damn sure everything is fine!!

yeah I can move that jumper myself, looks quite easy. buuut, given this cobra has "missing pieces", well, the old sayin "fool me once shame on me" is where I stop! I'll probably get it from Amazon, seems like radioddity is cheaper if you get the bundle, which is also a pretty good price!! then probably either send it to scott or hand deliver it, just to have him look everything over. he said in a vid i watched that he no longer carries the QT40 because radioddity was selling them cheaper on amazon and ebay and he was buying in bulk and selling them for a "small" profit, but basically radioddity was cutting his throat by selling much cheaper on amazon so he no longer carries them, but can order them at cost so buying off amazon will be much cheaper for me!! but, with prime, I can have it in a day IF I ordered it by noon my time. unfortunately, the nearest amazon store is in lake orion, an hr away. remember, I live in the thumb area of Michigan, no "big city" retailers within 45+ minutes! as for the antenna, I asked him aboot that, he said since the cobra isn't a "complete" radio, the QT40 "MIGHT" give a different reading, MIGHT but everythingshould be good unless i move the antenna! but since I moved the position he did say to mark the spot and leave it until I get the new radio. I sat in an open field last night, was able to communicate with someone aboot 4 miles away from me, and a few truckers going down the median(not a major highway) thats only 1.5 miles south of me. I could hear TONS of others, even a few from, what im assuming, was the UK!!! got lots of ppl from southern states, even a few west coast ppl, so at least I could have a few "conversations" at locally, and was being heard, locally, thats enough for me to continue with my "adventure"👍👍👍
