Hey there everyone! Wasnt exactly sure where to post this (I'm kinda new here and to this stuff) I was wondering how i could listen into Dispatching / System operations as for JCPL Firstenergy Flemington District. IF this is possible, Please let me know what equipment I may need and how I could do this. Thanks!

Just keep in mind, what is P25 Phase 1 today might become PII in the future.

The JCP&L P25 system is not really that active compared to the PSE&G one, so the amount of radio traffic heard is greatly diminished as compared to other utilities.

With that said, I would highly recommend a Uniden SDS 100 or the SDS 200 (if you want the base model). While JCP&L is currently running in P25 Phase 1 digital mode, with my experience, the older model P25 Phase 1 type scanners have had a tough time tracking the system correctly. Also, the coverage on the JCP&L system is tricky in some areas to receive, even with a high gain Remtronix 700/800/900 MHz antenna. On top of this, it does depend on exactly where you’re going to be monitoring from, so you may be in a spot where the tower is close by. And once you do get on board with JCP&L, they have a number of other talkgroups (channels) that the database will need assistance with identifying.

There have been a handful of threads on the JCPL system over the past few years, and everyone has noted there is very little use of that system. I ran Unitrunker within the last year or so for at least a day and did not log any conversations, just radios turning on and off.

I'd really hate to see you buy a scanner and go through the trouble of programming that system to be disappointed.
