...is not worth the investment ?

Scanners hardly qualify as an investment.

At best they are a tool for professional users.

For a hobbyist they are entertainment.

There are certain applications where the SDR based scanner excels, but the superheterodyne still has its place in conventional reception.

With the exception of the few who have the battery issue really no problems so no updates needed. As for DMR and NXDN more than likely hardware limitations prevent the HP2 from receiving that upgrade.

When was the HP2 released? I got mine in June 2015 and paid about $400 on Amazon.
Q4, 2014

.
Yep. I got mine early 2015 for a hair over $500 on Amazon as well. Our local PD, Fire, Town Works went P25 at the same time which is why I needed it. I got screwed when some other stations in the area switched to DMR later on and the HP II did not get the DMR upgrade later on like the BCDx36's did. I used a $80 VHF MD380 until I got my SDS100 for those. My HP II had clock issues starting in 2016 and I waited to see if they got a repair campaign until I finally broke down and paid $80 to have it fixed in mid 2018 rather than have a useless chunk of metal sitting around.

I must say, I am very disappointed in home patrol-2

It seems that Uniden is no longer providing firmware updates, as I know they have bigger fish to fry

I listen to a P25 in the 160 to 170mhz range

My SDS 100 and 200 pick up the signal perfectly…

The HP-2 struggles. I have tried every antenna under the sun
drkatzr, Uniden America Corporation's FOCUS is now on the SDS-100/SDS-200. It is VEREY obvious!

Uniden made a good scanner when they made the HP-2, but technology changes. The unit was not designed to accommodate the newer systems. The HP-2 is very good at what it's supposed to do. No updates are available because there's nothing to update. If it doesn't do what you want, you need to move up, too. Uniden has made that possible with the x36 and SDS models.

I like my HP-1 and HP-2 units although they've been relegated to the shelf since they won't do DMR. Hopefully Uniden will come out with an HP-3 which incorporates all the features of the SDS series of scanner.

Is there really a need for an HP3? If they already have 2 models of scanners doing the same thing is there really a market for a third? They should just stay focused on the SDS models. Once you get a third model into the mix things become too fragmented (i.e. the HP2 never getting any upgrades).

I really do wish they would add DMR and/or NXDN to the HP-2. We know the hardware is capable. I use these traveling and incorporated into a mobile console since they are a lot smaller than the other base scanners. If I had a pair of 536's or SDS200's installed it would need to be alot bigger.

The form factor is why I want an HP-3 as well.

Funny, one big reason I got rid of my HP-2 was because I hated the form factor. I didn't like the look of the antenna and power cord sticking out of each side. It was very awkward for desktop use. I suppose that design could be beneficial in some mobile applications.

Change the "channel"-too bad if you don't like it. You're FRUSTRATED!
Not even remotely frustrated. You however are either confused or trolling read the post you made i quoted below from another thread. It completely contradicts what you posted here in this thread. Also in another thread you stated how much better a baofeng is than a 125at and you sold it and then in another how great the 125at is. So yes most of what you post is nonsense.
Some how, everything must of been removed from the database. I'm not a owner of a SDS-100/SDS200 but I'm sure Uniden Representative(UpMan) or Doctordialtone will be more then happy to assist you once he sees this posting.
This is a GREAT digital handheld so just be patient. Uniden America Corp. has a toll free number of 1-800-297-1023 and then option 2 on Monday. Also you can join Scanner School on Facebook Phil L. (W2LIE) from Long Island will help you get this product going.
Have a nice weekend.
