Lack of remaining codespace limits what we can do on all existing models, including HP-2. We barely were able to fit NXDN into the BCD996P2/BCD325P2 release (why it took so long to come out after the other models).

Once the codespace gets full, updates are going to be limited to bug fixes, generally, and the HP-2 seems to be pretty solid in that regard.

We love adding features that extend the life of the platform. Much more cost effective (albeit still expensive) than having to redevelop a platform.
Could you add one but not the other?
Like add DMR capability but not NXDN?

My comment was about adding DMR to the HP2 and not adding NXDN.
Since the whole discussion has been about HP2 and it not having DMR or NXDN.
You quoted my comment then said it has DMR. But i am talking about the HP2, not the 996P2.

The HP2 will almost certainly not get either.

Uniden has to apply their resources to the continuation of development in SDR, which is the future. Going backwards to address old devices beyond a very limited level won't be practical moving forward. Older units will be sold by those who need more, to serve people who are content with their capabilities, and some scanners will join the collections of those who horde scanners for the sake of hording them. This is the fate of old scanners. It has always been this way, but with the scanner market shrinking for the reasons we all know, and because scanner development is getting more expensive and more challenging, support for old devices will probably be shortened more abruptly than in the past.

I support Uniden in doing whatever they have to do to survive, further improve the SDS units, and to work on the next generation of SDR scanners. If I cried over every scanner that I bought that no longer sees regular use or got sold, I would have drowned in a river of tears long ago. It's a reasonably expensive hobby.
