That was why I never bought a HP1 or HP2 I hated the form factor.

The HP-2 fits perfectly in my vehicle, a Subaru Forester. It works great traveling with the touch screen. Before it came out, I used a 996XT mounted in rear of the vehicle with a RH-96 remote head up front. The thing is that larger Uniden scanners won’t fit in smaller vehicles but the HP-2 does fit. I’m starting to experience the clock re-set issue also, my problem is the mini USB port went bad so I can’t apply any power to the unit. I use Enveloop batteries to keep it going. I would buy an updated model in a heartbeat.

I really like the form factor of the HP-2 (for mobile and desktop use). With right angle adapters, it is more readily adaptable to office desktop and mobile use versus the SDS 100 and 200. I cannot even find a place to mount the SDS200 in my recent model year vehicles - was really hoping for a remote head on the SDS200. The SDS100 is fine enough, but it is just not an ideal mobile form for my use due to screen size and dependence on other accessory mounts (ala RAM Grip). I guess this puts me in the pro SDS-HP-3 camp. However, a nice low thickness & touchscreen remote head form factor of a SDS200 would be ideal.

I really really like the form factor for the HP-2 as well. I'd be so happy if they were able to incorporate the ProVoice upgrade into the HP-2.

I still use the HP-2 for my cross country trips in the summer. Although the SDS-100 has become a pretty nice alternative to that setup.

They never intended it for mobile environment, perhaps why it lacks close call feature. If it did, that would be the go to radio in the vehicle.

I really do wish they would add DMR and/or NXDN to the HP-2. We know the hardware is capable. I use these traveling and incorporated into a mobile console since they are a lot smaller than the other base scanners. If I had a pair of 536's or SDS200's installed it would need to be alot bigger.
The hardware is capable? I thought the contrary, that it wasn't capable otherwise why wouldn't they have added it?

It is capable of Phase II.. I don't see why it wouldn't be. If they can add DMR to the BCD996P2 I have a hard time believing the HP-2 couldn't do it.

Probably to sell more of the other models is my guess.

Lack of remaining codespace limits what we can do on all existing models, including HP-2. We barely were able to fit NXDN into the BCD996P2/BCD325P2 release (why it took so long to come out after the other models).

Once the codespace gets full, updates are going to be limited to bug fixes, generally, and the HP-2 seems to be pretty solid in that regard.

We love adding features that extend the life of the platform. Much more cost effective (albeit still expensive) than having to redevelop a platform.

I love my HP2 and it is extremely solid! Never had any bugs and i've even dropped it numerous times on accident. Thing is like those old Nokia phones that were indestructible. It stays in the car now, since I got my SDS200 I don't have to use my HP-2 for mobile and base anymore.

The HP II was forgotten about by Uniden a long time ago. It is not a cheap unit as I paid $500-$600 for it New shortly after it came out. It may be discounted now as it's last-gen stuff, but it was not cheap.

When the BCDx36HP's received the free fix for the RTC clock issue, due to faulty batteries used by uniden, the HP II was left behind. I was forced to pay $80 to fix the same problem that was fixed for free on other units. Given they're clearly build on very same hardware, as they're all the same generation, and clearly used the same parts for the RTC battery, this should have been covered as well. Likewise, they never pushed their supplier for the DMR Upgrade for the HP II as they did for the BCDx36HP's.

The only reason I purchased by SDS100 was because there is literally nothing else out there that's as easy to program and use and feature wise as the SDS100... not because of Uniden's track record with products I've owned from them. That being

“drkatzr, Uniden America Corporation's FOCUS is now on the SDS-100/SDS-200. It is VEREY obvious!”

well, that is a very good business plan. I paid just as much, or almost as much, as I did for the SDS 100

Is there really a need for an HP3? If they already have 2 models of scanners doing the same thing is there really a market for a third? They should just stay focused on the SDS models. Once you get a third model into the mix things become too fragmented (i.e. the HP2 never getting any upgrades).

Knowing Uniden, where profit circumvents quality, they Probably will produce a HP-three

We the users have been complaining about simulcast LSM distortion for quite a while. Uniden is addressing that issue with the SDS line. Of course that is their focus. Let them work on the issue which has been the biggest PIA for so long.

Following that logic a cheap low quality remote head will be forthcoming for the SDS 200. ;) It would sell but I don't see them putting one out. The RH96 remote head didn't sell very well until after it was discontinued.

Now that it works with my 996P2 it is my fav scanner ever.
Not buying 200 until there is a way to remote it.

Hmm. Our sole focus is the SDSx00. So, I imagined the major update we released this week for the BCD996P2/BCD325P2. I think they gave me too much fentanyl last week.
Don't confuse them with Logic Big Daddy
