To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hytera HP605 radio- a few questions

I have a Hytera HP605 DMR radio but I have not yet sorted out the programming lead (PC152) or software.

I've checked out the Hytera HP605 User Manual but its not that helpful!!

There are only 2 programable side keys on the HP605. Are these multi-function keys ie short press, long press, double press etc... so its possible to program a number of functions?

I want to be able to program:

- high/low power
- scan
- scan nuisance delete
- zone up/down
- squelch open/adjust (for analog)

Is it possible to program the above with only 2 programmable keys?

Is there a Menu Option as an addition or alternative to using programable keys?

How many alpha tag characters can fit in the OLED display... it can fit "Hytera"..so its at least 6? I guess 8 would be useful to fit in, say, "146.5200"

Is it possible to program a HP605 using Bluetooth rather than a programming cable and can this be enabled without initially switching it on using a programming cable? This was briefly mentioned on a HP605 You Tube video but I've seen no mention anywhere else.

Thanks

Thanks for the link.

I'm wondering if I should avoid V3.0 CPS and firmware and maybe use V2.6 (or whatever) to avoid the issues mentioned in the link?

My HP605 is currently running F/W A2.4.02.007 so I guess V2.6 CPS should work OK?

Iv been using V3 fw for a few months now and no issues on any HM782's HP782's and HP602's
I am surprised you have no issues with V3 on the HP602. I just upgraded and I found some pretty annoying issues:
1-The display is now just off. On V2 in the CPS the display could wake on PTT and over the air (i.e. someone calling). This option has vanished on V3 and the display is off unless a side key, power or top dial is pressed. It does not wake for PTT or incoming calls
2-the display is now tiny (but displays channel alias now)

Of course it is not possible to downgrade

(I do also find it very odd that the hp60x can’t display the name of who is calling. Why have a display and barely use it!?)

Havnt used a 6 series much but did get 2 as a demo and sent them back due to the lack of options the screen had. Didnt like how you cant see the talker alias on it and was stuck to only channel name. Was something els that was dumb about it also.. but was told them 2 issues would be fixed in a future FW update (I assumed that would of been the V3 update)

Should see a new firmware release in the next few weeks to fix a bunch of issues that has been found. New CPS was release couple days ago but havnt seen the fw to go with it yet

(I ment 782's and 5 series in my other post not 6 series. 5 seem to be popular due to they have 2 knobs not the single one)

Ah ok. Yes, I have the new CPS, which doesn't change anything. The channel name is fixed but causes other issues. Let me send you a pic.....

So the new gets miniscule symbols for profiles, gps, BT etc, the channel number and the alias. But its never on (right now) and the text and icons are hard to read.

I find Hyteras dual knobs on the HP5s pretty annoying. I don't mind if they do single knobs or dual but would prefer they stick to a single interface so that we can realistically mix models in a set. As it is we have the HP6, 7 and BP5 with one knob and the HP5 with 2. For me means I won't touch the HP5s (and that I annoyingly will use BP5s (with their other CPS) where I would potentially have used a HP5).

With V2.0 CPS, how many characters can the display show?

Is it just, say, "C01" or can I get it to display "146.520"?

Thanks

Answer is in those two photos! V2 firmware is C01 (top). V3 firmware is channel name (below). I am not sure what the limit is but you can see 13 in the photo (which is more than the display allows but it then starts to scroll). So 12 character at a guess.

I want to initially stay with V2 firmware (due to all the issues with V3 firmware) but I need more than 3 (ie"C01") alpha tags. I think V2 might allow 6 alpha tags ie "145.52" but I was looking for confirmation of this.
