• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hi,

I have two Hytera PD402i radios. I bought a brand-new cable for them on eBay. However, that cable has problems, and in Windows Device Manager, it has a warning logo next to it. So, I got another cable from Amazon, and it has the same problems. It could be because it is not a real Hytera cable, but I have tried everything to get it to work. In the Hytera CPS, it says that there is an error with the cable. In Device Manager it says "Code 43 Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems." Know any potential problems? Should I get a real Hytera cable?

Thank you

Did you install the driver for PL2303 before connecting the cable to the PC? If not, Windows itself installed the driver for the cable and it is not suitable for work. Try to manually reinstall the driver

I used Windows to automatically find drivers, how do I install the correct driver?
Connect the cable to the PC. Find your cable in the Device Manager, right-click on it and select remove device. Disconnect the cable from the PC. Install the driver for PL2303 (you can download it from the official Prolific website). Connect the cable to the PC. Try working with your radio.

Ok, I tried this and setup the driver and tried to add it to the cable, but it says the best drivers are already installed. Is it Windows 11 that is a problem?

There may be unexpected glitches with Windows 11. If possible, try doing this on Windows 10. And still try to reinstall the driver manually, despite the Windows messages.

No, Win 11, is not the problem. The problem is simply the wrong driver was selected (automatically or otherwise).

Change to the prolific driver anyway.

"We recently discovered a technical issue with the programming cables for the PC35, PC36, PC69, PC76 and PC109 when using the latest Windows operating system, Windows 11.

The Prolific USB to Serial convertor chip used in these cables is not compatible with Windows 11.

Unbelievably sloppy development/engineering. Win 11 was released October 2021.

This is the driver I would try. Products

That cable looks suspicious, maybe a cheap knockoff? I would buy this one Hytera PC76 PC76 | Hytera US Inc
Ok, I tried these drivers, and it says the best drivers have already been installed. I disabled the device, unplugged it, re-plugged it in, and enabled it, and it said the device was working properly. I went into Hytera CPS and checked the COM port; there was none to select. I can go into properties of the cable, and there is an option to roll back the driver so I could re-install the drivers you said, but the button is unclickable.

You still haven't figured out that you first have to uninstall the driver that Windows itself installed for the cable. Plug in the cable. Go to Device Manager and find the cable. Right-click on the cable and select uninstall (also check uninstall the driver for this device). When the device is uninstalled, disconnect the cable. Download and install the driver for PL2303. Plug the cable into the PC. Run CPS and check if the virtual COM-port option appears

I uninstalled the cable and downloaded PL2303 again. I tried to load it into Device Manager, but I am not sure where to put PL2303. I plugged the radio back in, and it still has the error symbol. I'm not sure how to uninstall the driver for the device.
