Hi all, I think I broke my DSD+ (Fastlane latest release), and/or I have lost my ability to understand how to use it properly.

I am trying to voice monitor a local CAP+ system.
I have FMP24-CC monitoring and decoding on the one LCN currently active on the system. I see group calls being sent out, but hearing no audio.

I have FMP24-VC talking set up, I think, to tune the voice assignments. Again no audio.

Is FMP-24 the one I should be using, or should I be using 1R?

The header on my CC Event Log window has this displayed, and I'm not sure if it's revealing why I am having issues, nor how to make the changes.
"DSD+ CC Event Log AlertOnEncVoice NewTgHiPri SynthNoAudio Vol=-14.0 dB"
Within the logged information, I am seeing a line "Auto-muting voice"

My FMP24-CC.bat file:
Code:
FMP24 -rc -i1 -o20001 P0.0 -f452.2125
My cc.bat file:
Code:
DSDPlus -rc -i20001 -v3 -ws1400.2 -wss100.200 -we10.1 -wc10.455 >>CC.log

The header on my VC window has this displayed, and I'm not sure if it's revealing why I am having issues, nor how to make the changes.
"DSD+ VC Event Log NoCCH NoVF AlertOnEncVoice NewTGHiPri"
My FMP24-VC.bat file:
Code:
FMP24 -vc -i2 -o20002 P0.0 -452.2125
My vc.bat file:
Code:
DSDPlus -rv -i20002 -v3 -ws1400.210 -wss100.200 -we1172.522 -wc1528.0 >>VC.log

I looked through the menu to see what selected setting might have to be toggled, but found nothing obvious in either window.

Yes, FMP24 is what you want to use. FMP is legacy and should not be used.

Auto-muting voice? Are you sure that all of the traffic you are seeing isn't encrypted? If it's encrypted you aren't going to get any audio from it. The DSD Event Log window will clearly indicate if the traffic is encrypted or not.

There are multiple ways to monitor a Cap+ system. Monitoring a Cap+ system does not require the use of two dongles. IMO that just adds unnecessary complexity. Others may disagree though.

If you are running two copies of FMP24/DSDPlus:
- in the CC copy of DSDPlus, go to the DSDplus Event Window and click on Control and then select CC Monitor

- in the VC copy of DSDPlus, go to the DSDPlus Event Window and
a. click on Control and then select VC monitor
b. click on Control and make sure you have Group Calls / Private Calls / Data Calls set to Normal Handling

- in the VC copy of DSDPlus, go to the DSDPlus Event Log window and
c. make sure you have Output set to your speakers/headphone

If it were me, I'd run one copy of FMP24 and one copy of DSDPlus, TCP-linked. And then, in the DSDPlus Event Log window under Control I would set it to Combined CC/VC Monitor. I would make sure that in the Output menu the proper speakers/headphone audio output was selected and that Group/Private/Data calls were set to normal handling.

Just my two cents.

Mike

If you have the system set up in DSDPlus.networks, DSDPlus.sites and DSDPLus.frequencies files (and you should), you will want to look at the DSDPlus.groups file and make sure that you don't have the particular group(s) locked out.

Hmmm, highly unlikely this system would have encryption. There is not indication of such in the CC or VC event windows.

System, site and frequencies are recorded, but no talkgroups yet (unable to identify without voice) to enter into group file.

Ok basically you are monitoring LCN 1 (ch1/ch2), and all voice calls are occurring there. Those voice calls are seen on the CC copy of FMP24/DSDPlus. But, you have that copy set up not to play any audio (probably because you want the VC copy to play the audio).

I suggest one of two things:

1. CC copy of DSDPlus
- Output: Synthesize All Digital Voice
- Output: Speakers/Headphones

or

2a. CC copy of DSDPlus
- Control: CC Monitor (1 of 2)

2b. VC copy of DSDPlus
- Control: VC Monitor (2 of 2)

2c. VC copy of DSDPlus
- Output: Synthesize All digital Voice
- Output: Speakers/Headphones

And, it should be obvious that I'm suggesting that you use the menu system when I have those "-" lines.

If you ran just one copy of FMP24/DSDPlus, this would be working by now. Since you are running two, you have to make sure and set the CC copy to monitor only CC traffic and the VC copy to only monitor VC traffic. But, short term, if you did the first choice (#1) you'd at least hear the traffic because it would be decoded on the CC copy. Up to you.

Hi Mike ... thanks for your patience.

I dropped the 2nd DSD and FMP instances in favour of just the single instance operation.

Settings I have via the CC Event Log are:

Input
Use TCP Linking
Source Audio Window
No Source Audio Monitoring

Output
Speakers (Realtek High Definiti
Synthesize all digital voice
No Per-Call Recording

Decoder
Noise Filter
Shaping filter
All protocols selected

Control
Combined CC/VC Monitor
Hunt for lost ccontrol channels
Voice/Data Call Following
Set High Priority Override for New Talkgroups
Group Voice Calls: Normal Handling
Private Voice Calls: Normal Handling
Data Calls: Normal Handling

Speaker volume is up, but still not voice joy.

Hi slicer, only from what I can enter from RR.
This is the City of Kitchener LMR system, recently changed to a DMR Cap+ system. Only the one frequency (171.3150 LCN1) appears to be active, although a second frequency has shown up in the DSD+ Cap+ Activity Window ... 412.0125, which isn't in my frequency list. Not sure if I should include it or not.
The DSD+ 1R Event Log says "Loading all known site channels. Lost rest channel; tuning to 412.0125." 171.315 has been the control channel for the most part.

It appears that after a reboot of my computer, I have been able to get things working.
Thanks everyone ... I learned a few things with this.
