Remember, you have to be monitoring a Motorola P2 five system that has aliases turned on. If it doesn’t have aliases turned on, you won’t see aliases. If it’s not a Motorola P 25 system, you absolutely will not see aliases.
Yeah, I get this. I was wondering if there was a way to determine if the P25 system had aliases turned on or not by looking at the data window

Edit - I can see one has been identified in the technician talk group as Motorola Engineer. Will leave it running for 24hrs and see what else it picks up

OK, good deal. Then it is working. Remember they’re not going to show up immediately. It could take 24 hours to show up. So just let it run as long as you can and eventually you’re going to start seeing more and more of them.

Is there a way to determine if the OTA alias is an option on a system? I'll leave mine on for a while, but I can't see anything coming up in the window yet.

I was wondering the samething. I don't see nothing popping up for OTA alias for RID.

Open your radios file. Scroll to the system your on. Look for stuff like this.

Appears the P25p2 by me doesn't have the OTA turn on. I let the system run over night nothing popped up.

Would be nice if the aliases could be resolved in the packet data window.

Could have been a partial that corrected itself or it could be a radio that had one alias assigned now has another. Maybe officer smiths tour was up and now officer jones is assigned the radio.

Here is the screen shot of the selections.

You need to voice follow (Combined CC/VC monitor). If there are encrypted talkgroups, you need to follow those encrypted talkgroups as well if you want aliases.

Of course, it may just not be transmitting aliases. But make sure you are doing full voice following.

I switched over to the combined awhile ago and did put follow enc traffic on the Lakeland system. If I go to the polk p25p1 and use combined and the control channel gets lost and won't come back til I turn off the combined.

So the system you were hoping sent aliases is not?

Lakeland P25p2 nothing as of yet. That is with TG entered with name and RID I have on Only OTA. Not sure how long ago the city went to the phase ll. The city uses i-Call public works seems the only ones using i-call.

Polk p25p1 nothing since OTA works with Phase ll or maybe their end isn't updated. I do see a call sign show up here and there on the Channel Log window.

Not sure what to say. Not sure if the systems just don't broadcast aliases, or if you are doing something wrong. Can only be one of the two. If it's a Motorola P25 system, it won't matter if it's Phase I or Phase II. It'll either have aliases enabled or it won't, or perhaps will only selectively (as GTR8000 discussed previously).

If aliases were enabled across the board, you'd start seeing interesting lines (like BM##### posted above) in your Event Log window indicating such.

I was thinking both systems here don't have OTA aliases enabled. I'll run the lakeland system for awhile. I did go to the RID note file and looked don't see nothing at the end like most people have showing.
