ICIS Vedugo

Seems like it's up and running fine, Does not sound as clear as the old system that's for sure! They are still simulcasting on green!

Well just got home from work. I am alittle disappointed in how the new system sounds. Tones sound "sick" and the transmission sound hollow and low volume. This is on my 396. What suprises me is that during testing it was clear, loud, and sounded really good. I know its the first day and there has to be some ongoing treaking to be done but testing sounded a lot better than the live system in my opinion.

ICIS Audio Quality

I agreed it sounds real flat and has no high tone, Hasn't sounded garbled but I do notice that it sounds better audio-wise on my pro-96 than my 996. They are simulcasting on green without the PL tone and you can hear how that sounds too so thats gotta be a radio patch and not direct from the dispatcher, It too also sounds flat and poor in audio clarity. I wonder how the field units are liking these new radios?

I've been listening to Verdugo since they were in the 154 band, but since Monday at noon I'm lost. I have a RadioShack Pro-96 which I've had a year, but I still don't understand trunking. I've done what I could figure out, but have lock-ons but no sound. If any of you are kind enough to help, please look for my post, "Have a Pro-96 and new to Trunking: How?", in the RadioShack scanners forum. Thanks.

Heard Rose Bowl units being told to operate on Red 13 by Verdugo Dispatch on Saturday. Red 13? Obviously a simplex or fireground channel as I could hear no traffic from my location in Burbank. Anybody know what frequency Red 13 is?

Guys, I need help inputing Verdugo into my BCD396T. Do I input all the frequencies (Primary control channels and alternate control channels) for Glendale Cell, Burbank cell, Montebello cell, Oat Mtn cell, etc... and then the TG's for Verdugo? Or do I only input certain cell freqs? Thanks in advance...

There are a couple ways to program your scanner for icis.....but you cant miss by creating a system for each site, and programming all the frequencies for each cell. Even better if you program the ICIS site numbers corresponding to the Quick Key numbers. 1, 2, 3 etc

I agree with Karldotcom. I have the Burbank Cell as System #1, Glendale Cell as System #2, etc. I program each system with many of the same groups, i.e. Burbank PD, Group #1, Glendale PD Group #2, Verdugo Fire, Group #3, etc. I keep the other Burbank frequencies for Water and Power, services etc. just on the Burbank System and the other Glendale Service Groups on only the Glendale System.

While the BCD396T only needs the Control channels to operate the System, I input ALL the frequencies assigned to the Cell as I never know when they may make another frequency a control channel and it isn't like adding the extra frequencies is going to degrade the memory of the scanner.

Just heard LA County Engine 82 come up on Red 15 working mutual aid with Glendale. They asked the dispatcher for a comm plan, and she stated they were to remain on that channel until meeting with BC2, who would give them ICIS radios for Red 2.

Did you put in Base, Offset, Step ?

Also put Burbank, Glendale etc in their own system.

The database has all the correct info

I put in 1 system, called it "Verdugo."

Then I put in the set frequencies as the Glendale and Burbank System Freq's.

For band plan, I have Band Plan 1 as 480.5000. Band Plan 2 is 470.0125. Band Plan 3 is same as Band Plan 1.

Then under Edit Group, Edit Channel, I have a group called Verdugo, with all the TG's in it.

I am hearing verdugo, but it sounds really bad. Maybe something to do with the status bit or end code? What about I-Call and Emergency Alert? Should it be a C-Ch only?

What are the TG's for Medcom?

I would make seperate systems for Burbank, Glendale, Oat, or what ever cell is the nearest to you and put that systems freq, base, offset etc in each one. I tried to combined cells once and it did not work. Try that and see what happens. Of course you will need to put the TGs in each one but program one, and cut and paste into the others. Hope this helps.

I put the Palmdale site frequencies into my Burbank bank and it works fine in both areas....they share all the same settings. It will start picking my Hauser Peak on the 14 around Lang.

And Culver City and Oat Mtn are the same bank, same freqs, same setup.

In short, you dont want two active control channels interfering in the same bank

does anyone know the offset and step for the hauser peak icis system.

As Karldotcom mentioned in his post above yours, all the settings are the same as Burbank's.

I heard there were 700 talkgroups on the master list....I have only logged 200 or so, and ID'd 180 I believe....and some of those IDs are tenuous at best. I could post what I have for Burbank....but it isnt too different than the list here on RR.
