Small bursts of activity with wierd ids coming up and talkgroups that i havent seen before. is anyone logging the system??

Whoa - you're right. Just saw that. 12:37-12:40, weird Source IDs 8675309 (I'm guessing someone's got a sense of humor with that one) and Target IDs of 1106, 17501, 25111, & 49222.

Then Service Tech calls a minute or two later with more standard looking IDs.

i must have sosmething backward red 1 is showing as being encrypted. it's too far for me to get voice and cc data is coming through intermittently can anyone else post something and confirm red 1 is normal out there??

I saw a memo about the SGV site.

Basically the two repeaters are up - Johnstone Pk and BKK landfill site in West Covina.
Motorola finishing up optimizing the systems and along with the software and data links tweak which should be complete late this month or early March.

After that, the time consuming task is the coordination for programming radios of the 6 agencies involved which could take 30-45 days.
There is also issue of new dispatch console installs at a couple agencies, but that wont delay cutover.

So realistically they are looking at April/May before things go live.

96 baud Glendale Control Channel

Did anyone notice that the Glendale 'primary' control channel [482.2875] made the switch to 96 baud? Could I just plug this 96 baud freq. into my Pasadena/Pomona bank or would additional programming be required to be able to monitor this?

Glendora CC on 482.2875 showing up on my 996XT as
SID: 0376h-0111. Just as I am typing this Simulcast-CHP Altadena Brown Channel just flashed, then Pomona PD Blue. I will start to monitor this a bit.

Sorry been a long night. Still up at 4 AM. The CHP and Pomona hits flashed while I was on Pasadena CC. But the Glendora CC is loud with the SID stated above. Sorry for confusion.

Interesting Glendale is running two systems.

The old one and still carrying all the radio traffic is using 482.1875 for CC at the moment, plus the new upgrade P25 one on 482.2875. However I did not note any active TGs or radio affiliations on the upgraded system during my monitoring.

I'll work to build the P25 site in the Db in the next day.

So far I've got a couple of logins - I'm not receiving it as well as 482.1875, but I'll leave Unitrunker on it for the day to see what I get.

My understanding is that Glendale will run both systems in parallel in the short term.

A few more frequencies will be added to the P25 site and Police and Fire(Verdugo) will transition over while city services will remain on the old site until they have enough new radio to assign to everyone before making the full transition over to P25.

Sounds a bit like LA City which did not have enough monies to move everyone over the the new P25 STRS system so it had to keep EDACS on the air even longer.

When is Verdugo switching over to the new system? Will they be able to be monitored on a scanner? Will I need HRO to reprogram my scanner since I live in the SFV?

LA City is really going to be broke now after a few of their fire applicants made a big stink about the testing process from last year. There were 13,000 applicants and people were getting processed to start their drill towers over the next few years and Mayor Garcetti haulted the whole shutdown of their fire dept hiring list and is using a firm out of LA to do a full investigation on their hiring practices. There first drill tower of 70 people that were hired about 1/4 of the guys were family of current LAFD employee's. RED flag.

Before there was going to be a class action law suit the mayor said hold on everybody. Pump the brakes. The sad thing is that if the city has to re-test that is going to be millions of dollars to re-test thousands and thousands of people again and strain the cities fire dept since they are already down like 700 firefighters.

I think the Mayor did the right thing as FDNY just paid $98 million to applicants who were discriminated against.

now, back to the thread. Is Glendale running two systems right now, because my old setup seems to be working still.

edit: Never mind, I have this new system up on Unitrunker.

Culver City Radio Garbled 4/30/14

Culver City PD / FIRE Wed April 30, 2014

This morning approx 930 I heard CCPD Dispatch commenting to officers in the field that there were technical problems with the radio system. At that time everything was sounding ok to me (GRE PRS800), but as of about the last hour or so (1000hrs), PD (main and secondary TAC), and FD are nearly imposable to listen to. Communications of both the dispatch and mobile / HT units are severely garbled and "digital".

Also, from time to time I'm hearing other non-Culver City traffic on the primary PD and FD dispatch freqs. I have not yet been able to make out what or who this might be.

I don't suspect anything with my receiver, as other cities, both digital and analog seem to be normal.

Anyone else out there monitoring Culver City and can confirm this?
