With no digital, it better not. If anything, under $400 but that’s just a guess. If it is over $500, may pass on it and look at the new uniden down the road. Not sure even on that though as my 325P2 does very good on P25, DMR and anolog. Haven’t upgraded the NXDN yet as not much of that in my area. Still may do it though.

The BCD325P2 is a great little scanner, an SOB to program without software though😁...

I just let it scan on whatever I select on the menu. I like how the set up police as it covers more than I though, plus it scans fairly fast. Still haven’t read the entire manual yet like I do on my other radios. It’s a nice unit that’s not bulky like the 436 I used to own. Fits the bill.

Mark's scanner website is a godsend😁...

My TH-D75A does pretty well on analog. I sold off all my scanners, the local public service is encrypted. The R15 has advantages in speed and sub band audio features. I wouldn’t mind having a dedicated scanner again…

One of my friends in the UK says the software might not be available until Aug Sept. It may not be a free download (ie, R30).

The ICOM R30 software is not free, so I will be extremely surprised if the R15 software from ICOM is free. Just guessing, but it is likely to be around $75 US dollars. If you look at the PDF file that shows how to install the R15 software, it is almost identical to R30 software install process. The screen shots make the R15 software screens look just like the R30 software after installation.

The current price for the CS-R30 software is around $85 USD, so my estimate might be even low.:)

Sorry, my wording was not clear, the R30 was not free, was tied to one PC IIRC.

Since the R15 is available in Japan, it would be interesting to know if the software is also available, but no one from Japan seems to be posting anything about the receiver.

Hopefully $449, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s more. Shipping in May would be my guess.
Hopefully in the $2xx if not $3xx range - just hope it isn't a "money grab" item from ICOM and just using the R-xx name to garnish sales for a mediocre product with terrible reception.

I'll be extremely shocked if the TH-D75A didn't perform well!

When has Icom ever done that?

Been buying Icom gear for over 25 years and they turn out state-of-the-art communications equipment that's the Gold Standard.

Of course that's not cheap and comes with a premium price, but you know when you buy an Icom radio it will do what Icom says it does and does it well.

The price without tax in Japan is $390 straight from the Icom website. I didn’t look up “real” vendor pricing. I expect it will be more than that in the USA.

The pre tax price for CS-15 is around $23. Again, expect it to cost more for USA…or I wonder if it will stay low thinking about RTsystem’s pricing.

I honestly thought the R30 software was free until I read the post above. I use RTSystems for many other radios, so I never even looked for Icom‘s software.

The R15 is available in the UK, one guy has posted a tiny bit about it. There are a few YouTube videos from Japan but I didn't notice anything about the software.

UK gets it before us? WTF Icom. Been approved a week already. Guess USA isn’t on Icoms priority list of customers.

Air band is very popular in the UK, since all public service is encrypted. Many air bases in a very small area including Europe.

Not 100% sure but HRO may be only retailer selling the R15 in the US. Not a lot of demand with no digital modes.

It’s usually a month after type acceptance before Icom ships to the US at least that’s been my experience in the past.
