It's official now.

Please continue comments/questions on this thread. I will try to review and answer them.

No, the prices are not set yet, but I would expect between BC125AT and BCD325P2 for the portable and between BCT15X and BCD996P2 for the mobile. The release date is still months away, but should be around the end of the year.

The reason for the delay? Not enough parts to make both these and current models. (supply chain issues)

I still believe there is value to the posts even without the pricing info. ;)

There are more good things coming down the pike. Some I can talk about and some I can't (yet). A couple I can talk about are a new/revised QC department and new SDS firmware currently in beta test. This is not the major firmware we are all expecting, but is the tip of the iceberg.

I hope we are not on the same path as W* because Uniden is poised to make a very strong comeback. I've seen it internally already.

Hey guys, enjoy the new thread from Uniden, I have been censored from participating LOL. It's okay, I'm not interested in the scanner anyway. Enjoy the new thread. 73s.

So the new units are regressing in capability.

Everything I care for is disappearing so why not this as well.

Good times.

Not at all. These models follow the same logical progression that all releases have followed for decades - start at the low end and work up (generally speaking). If you recall the last new model was the SR60 which is an entry-level analog-only scanner. Before that was the high end SDS models. These new models do not replace anything - they simply fall between the BC125AT/BCT15X and the next models higher. I don't know the next models that will come out, but they most likely will not be SDS100/200 replacements. Those are too new. I expect the next models to be mid-level digital or entry level digital trunking, but we will see. Development is a continual process.

I have heard some very interesting ideas recently. Perhaps it is time to get those in the pipeline.

If UPMan was still alive he’d at least pop in and tell us he can’t say anything about this. The current Uniden product manager hasn’t been online in almost a month.

Unless he was not authorized to discuss them yet. As of earlier today that has changed (obviously).

I guess we didn't take the time to read the bold text that's been in the main Uniden forum for literally years, huh?

I misread his post, thinking he was telling us to continue the discussion there rather than here, thanks for clearing it up.

Didn't think it was censorship, just a misunderstanding.

Is Uniden already anticipating problems with this unit? Perhaps a built-in cold solder joint, or humming by design, or dim screen, or faulty scroll knob, or a pre-failed clock battery, or .....

No, it's based on a well proven design. It's just that the IT guys got ahead of the rest of us.
