For those wondering about the price of the BCD260DN, Bearcat Warehouse has posted the BCD260DN on their website with a price of $349.99. It also says "COMING EARLY 2024" and "ON BACKORDER ARRIVING SOON."
This is an update to my post #455 on 08-04-2023 in this thread (quoted above). After having the BCD260DN price of $349.99 posted on their website for many weeks, Bearcat Warehouse has now changed that to "Pricing Currently Not Available." I wonder if pressure from Uniden and/or complaints from other vendors was responsible for the change seeing that the scanner is not even available for pre-order at this time.

Also since my previous post, Bearcat Warehouse has added a webpage for the BCD160DN handheld (FYI the BCD160DN is incorrectly listed as a Base/Mobile on that page). The current pricing information for the BCD160DN is the same as the BCD260DN and states "Pricing Currently Not Available."

If it's $249 it might be a better choice than BCT15x but any higher than that and a full trunking scanner like a P25 996 will be a better buy. It all depends on Uniden what they set the retail price to, if it will sell in bigger numbers or not. Uniden already have everything as in a $200 BCT15x and then adds conventional DMR/NXDN digital decode that they already had for many years in their other scanners, so development costs are almost zero and it's just a matter of applying what they already have into one scanner.

Butel is OK but ProScan is better software in my experience. Disappointing that Uniden apparently didn’t loop him in like they did Butel to see if he can get it working with the new scanner.

I am a huge fan of ProScan, but I'm not sure it's a matter of "doesn't trust Bob". If I am not mistaken, these new scanners will be of the "banks of channels" variety like the BC125AT and BC75XLT, right? ProScan doesn't support those models, but Butel does. I guess if I had been Uniden, I would have reached out to Bob and told him, "Hey we're going to release these new models but our guess is you won't want to support them in ProScan" but I'm not Uniden. :)
FYI per the ProScan.org website on 09-13-2023: "BCD160DN, BCD260DN, & BCT125AT support coming soon!"

Hey now, you said it and opened that door.

Really, don’t take it too seriously…it was just too easy. Couldn’t resist! It’s all good.

Some readers of this thread may be interested in the following information regarding the upcoming BCD160DN and BCD260DN models:

ACL Distributors, Inc. (located in Marriottsville, MD), Uniden's largest Master Distributor, has now listed both the BCD160DN handheld and the BCD260DN base/mobile on their website.

There is a phone number posted on both of those linked webpages above for Uniden Dealers to call for Dealer Pricing which would lead one to believe that wholesale/dealer-cost pricing for the 2 new models is available at this time. Please note that ACL Distributors, Inc. does not sell retail to the general public and only sells to Uniden dealers.

You can get a BCD996P2 for $477 Free shipping with DMR & NXDN.
So if the price is$399 it would be smart to just pay the extra $78 for the huge upgrade the 996p2 will bring
If its $299 then maybe.
I would love to add a few to do DMR/NXDN/Analog but not for a $78 savings, $179 savings maybe
Now if you go used I got 2 996P2s with DMR & NXDN in them last year for $700
