I am in my last 2 weeks before retiring after 40 years of service BUT IF IT SERVES A PURPOSE FOR ME IT IS GOING IN THE STACK IN THE SHACK

I had to run out tonight Buddy.. once again I was tempted to post your rack which is in my archives, all photoshopped up but if anyone wants to see it it's there for anyone to see.

Knowing you, I would say you pretty well have sized this radio, er, sorry, scanner up pretty well for what it is, as I have also.

Anyway, I just want to congratulate you very much on your retirement, I know that the virus hit you hard.

I think I may have revealed your real first name once in the past, but that's your business, as well as your call sign.

Our paths don't cross that often anymore but.. I bet you will add this radio to your rack. Just for shtz and giggles.

You obviously have so many opportunities post retirement, keep in touch.😀

The Scanner Guys show on Wednesday nite at 8:00 pm and see what Johnathan has to say!
I would also guess Joe Bearcat will be there to answer Johnathans question as well as anyones questions on the live chat!!

Thanks for that update Steve, I've used Alf as my avatar for many years, used to watch the show myself some odd 40 years ago.

For the longest time I used to use my bright orange Philadelphia police press card with my real picture on it and all you could read was press and Philadelphia police, the rest of the information was too small to actually read no matter how much you blew it up. Many many years ago the picture format changed on radio reference from a rectangle to a circle and it kind of obliterated my avatar of my press card. That's when I picked Alf. Much better looking than me.

So Steve what is your opinion about this new scanner?

As already noted several times in this thread, this should be a digital scanner since the model number includes BCD.

But until we get more details on what it actually can, or cannot, do, we're all just guessing. If it was not digital, I'd be expecting, perhaps, an updated scanner to replace the BCT15X, which is 'long in the tooth'. It might be a sort of "dumbed down" BCD996P2, without all the capabilities & options of the 996. I presume that this will be a DMA scanner, as opposed to a database scanner.

Maybe we'll get a few more solid details from the ScannerGuys podcast

What would probably be good for Uniden to do is come out with a series of firmware updates for the SDS series unlocking some potential and improving performance, I think that's a novel idea. /S

I highly agree with you on that as for I do have a Uniden SDS200 and am wanting & missing Firmware Updates with Improvements, performance & Bug Fixes as for there has not been any in so very long. The last Firmware Update for the SDS200 was on, 6/29/2022.

Now with these supposedly New Models of Uniden Scanner Receivers released & being sold, I feel that most of the efforts & Firmware Updates from Uniden will now be aimed for & towards those & not any of their older Model Scanners like the SDS Series line of Scanners or even the BCD996P2, & will be neglected for any future Firmware Updates with Improvements, performance & Bug Fixes from Uniden. I feel that is where this is headed & going unfortunately...

Well if you noticed I ended my post with /S... on radio reference that indicates my post was sarcasm. We have not had a meaningful firmware update since April 15th 2019 on the SDS scanners.

Other than updates that accommodated new hardware on newer models and one firmware update that addressed I think it was steps on searching but not actually programming and a problem with decoding in a certain range of VHF conventional digital. We have not had any firmware updates addressing the long list that was compiled over a year's time that members felt needed addressing.

As far as these new scanners go we just don't know enough with regard to if they are in the planning stages or ready to be released next week, nor do we know what kind of firmware updates they will receive.

again as i said earlier im banking its a replacement set for the 996p2 and 325p2, i cannot see them replacing wwith a bcd format the 15x, 30 c or 125at or any other model, unless there going to start from the top down and replace the 536/436 first and then its trickle down to the rest.
