You may want to wait and take a look at the GRE PSR-700 EZ Scan. I plan to wait and see what is changed in it beyond adding V-Scanner, a better keypad, and a black case. Hopefully some "enhancements" like CTCSS/DCS keypad save, simple trunked playlists without a full import of the system first, and automatic playlist updates when the new playlist is downloaded (and old playlist removed). I'm also hoping for Don S. Win700 and Mike's PSREdit 700 support.

I had tried to format my card, but I did it again with no positive results. I'll probably go to Radio Shack tomorrow after work. It probably is a bad card, but it's odd that it works fine connected to the AC adapter.

One "con" about the radio is that it gives an error message, but neither the manual, or help on the CD lists that error message.

When it works, I like the radio.

Thanks for your help.

You need to format the card from a PC with an SD reader/writer and the supplied software. The radio has no interface to do this.
Also be sure the write protect tab is off on the SD card.

Yeah, that would be ideal. However, I just don't have the patience to wait til June to buy a new toy, LOL.

How does the size of the iScan compare to radios like the Icom R5, BC246T, BCD396XT, etc.?

Any pics available of these radios side by side?

(I'm still debating) LOL.

It's very similar in size to the 346/396xt, the pro-107 is just slightly taller. width and depth are about the same. The performance of my pro-107 is superb, nice crisp audio and a very nice easy to read display. It has a very clean squelch tail and it is very sensative in the receiving department. Side by side performance comparasion with the 107 against a 346xt, the 107 was the clear winner. Both had upgraded identical antennas, Watson W-801 and the 107 pulled in better signals and was chatting away while the 346xt was a second or two behind. I highly recommend an antenna upgrade as the stock 107 antenna is not very good, decent but a better antenna made a big difference. Im very happy with mine so far and not one problem. The lack of buttons on the front was an issue with me from the beginning, but the performance and technology quickly turned me around. I can't wait for the psr-700 to arrive, that will be my next purchase.

Have you tried to install the software on another computer?

While not free, the CD is available from RSU Parts for $12.89 plus shipping. Part number is 12480232.

Library Version 12

Apparently the problem with the library update has been fixed. Version 12 is now available.

The changes from one version to the next are whatever has changed in the quarter-million or so categories, sub-categories, agencies, frequencies, systems, sites, or talkgroups in the RadioReference database.

Unfortunately, there's no list that describes every single item that has changed week-to-week.

Quick question - does the RID function work with non-trunked systems as well. Apologies if this has been asked and answered before, but this thread is running close to 500 posts!

For reference, you can see a list of all counties that have gotten an update in the last 7 days at:
RadioReference.com - Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference Database

As you can see, it is extensive...184 counties had some kind of update applied.

Trunked Site Settings/Programming in the iSCAN software. There is a column titled ABst. What does that stand for?

"Audio Boost". It increases the audio volume for the trunked system, talkgroup, or conventional channel.

Pro - 107 Pn Sale Again $199.99

Not as good as $179.99, but on sale - 30 bucks off. Just checked the RS website.

Web only price. Not available in stores at that price.

And, they are running an additional special with orders over a certain amount at checkout
they will take off another 15 bucks, so you are at around 184 for the scanner. Not bad.
