Yesterday, I was playing around with my PSR-500 scanner and found something new....

Hooked up scanner to PRO96com Pro96Com - Control channel decoder for P25 Trunked Radio Systems
and I found a new P25 system in Jacksonville, based off of the existing public safety TRS:

Site ID: 3BD

P25 control channels: 855.2125, 855.4875, 855.9625, 855.9875

One active talkgroup: 1147

Heard "test 1-2-3-4-5" on this talkgroup....then it went encrypted.

Of the little I heard, it sounded great from my location (south of I-295 ring).

Why i`m at it people should get paid for IPN also. Do you know how much IPN makes off of people paging stuff out. All they give people is crappy points system that takes forever to get anything worth value.

Thanks for posting this...

I'm inbetween scanners right now but only until next week and I will plug these numbers in and see what I can hear from world golf village. I work on the southside with three radio towers right over our lot and couldn't monitor Jax mot with my 396xt while on my breaks, even with attenuation on. But as soon as I started driving away maybe half mile the overloading went away.

Besides this system, the only other digital that I monitor is nas jax which I enjoy, me being an aviation buff. But did I read correctly somewhere here that at some point even the JFRD will all be encrypted? Maybe when this new P25 sys is online...

I did host it.

No, there is no chance that I'll host it again.

Right people should get paid to host.

If the compensation provided is not up to your approval, there is an obvious solution.

Do not host feeds.
Do not dispatch for IPN

Very simple

I dont buddy. Feeds will be shut down in due time. IPN companies are dropping their accounts like hot potatoes because of bogus pages. I think if there was more incentive on IPN`s part it would make for more accurate paging.

This is along the lines of the Jacksonville P-25. The navy also runs P-25 in the area. Since some of you have digital scanners, could someone check the new site ID for NAS Jacksonville please. Here is the info.

NAS Jacksonville, FL (NIP) 385.56250c 386.22500c

Thanks

I shoot night and overnight breaking news in jax as a stringer. Was at a late night fire about a week ago. Was talking to a JFD PIO and couple of Fire Fighters about the business etc. They did tell me that JFD goes encrypted January 2011.

A few years ago, the talkgroups for Rescue-to-Hospitals were encrypted under the city's interpretation of HIPAA, that is patient privacy. If the rumor about encrypting all of fire becomes a reality, it will likely be an extension of that same logic.

For example, Fire-Rescue is dispatched to 123 Main Street for seizures. You live at 125 Main Street but never knew your neighbor had epilepsy, etc. etc. etc.

Bottom-line, JFRD is part of a wide-coverage Trunked Radio System. Each deputy uses the same radio (both portable and mobile) as Fire-Rescue. So, encrypted talkgroups do work across the geography. Now, do I want them (as a scanner enthusiast) to go encrypted across the board??? No.

Back on topic, has anyone been able to confirm my findings (see post # 1)? Discovered any new talkgroups? Heard any traffic on the new system?

Just got my 106 today. Not hearing anything at my place whereas I can pick up the MOT system without problem.

I'll see what I get tomorrow at the job.

Wirelessly posted (BB Bold 9780: Mozilla/5.0 (BlackBerry; U; BlackBerry 9780; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.1+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/6.0.0.359 Mobile Safari/534.1+)

Well I didn't hear any P25 traffic on Friday so nothing to report there.

But remember my earlier post, I said I couldn't pick up the MOT system on my XT even with ATT turned on cuz of tower proximity at my job? Well to my surprise, with ATT on, the Pro-106 was receiving traffic with no problem. I thought it would be the other way around given the known attributes of these radios. It really is too bad JFRD is going offline so to speak.

Hmm, just realized as I type this that I didn't have ATT activated for the P25 system. I'll try that this week and won't bore you guys any more unless I have talkgroups to report.

Good night
