I looked at Mokanscan.net and he has them wrong, They have said several times on air that A2 is the out of service ch.

After listening tonight A4 is the "fire ch" ems and fire going to wrecks and fires, A3 is the medical ch, Ems units and fire units going to medical calls. I was a little off in my earlier post. I could still be wrong on what A3 is but it fits with what dispatchers have said.

On 33007 it sounded like med for sure, they said respond non-emergency to... didn't catch where, but that's all I heard. Some fire units were also talking... They did have an ambulance responding as well by the way.

33003 was used as a tac ch during a highrise fire this morning, 3 alarms were called in a first, not sure of the name of the ch yet, someone said tac 4 but i don't know for sure.

Mokanscan has last reported 33002 is FD Mutual Aid, 33007 is for EMS Response, 33008 is Fire Response, 33010 is IC/On Scene Ops, possibly a Fireground... anyone else think this??

All Confirmed Talk Groups based on Radio LID and Recordings of the audio and watching via Trunker where the radio traffic goes to for the incident.

I have not heard Fire Mutual Aid yet - and I heard the 33003 TG also but I did not hear what the label was yet either, we must have all heard the same fire.

Just to let anyone in Southern Mo know, Poplar Bluff has changed over to the P25 system. PBFD & EMS are still on the same channels as they always were. At least for now. So is the Butler Co Sheriff Dept. It will just be a matter of time before the BCSO changes over.

Why do you guys say Ax is the number associated with the channel and A is the Zone?? So if it were the case, A would be FD, B possibly PD, C municipal FDs/interops possibly?!

Ax is just the channel name used by KCFD units only. I don't think it has anything to do with any specific areas or zones. It's pretty much along the same lines as channel 1, channel 2, channel 3, etc, just with an "A" in front of the ch number.

Is this for MOSWIN??

Also thanks, PVPD730 for the clarification. I just heard KCFD on the EDACS System, are they being patched still??

Also just heard them on P25 saying portables on "A5" and rig radios on "C5" not sure if that's flipped or not, but they said something to that effect. So it is to my understanding, dispatch will call out certain FD/EMS Units and then they will tell which response channel they need to be on, A2-A10 or so?!

to many channels..

I here some confusion with the EMS crew on what channel they need to go to.....they have made this system somewhat confusing for there employees .....fire dept too....dispatch on one....talk on another....stage...on another....I'm sure they will work this out soon....having EMS&FIRE together????? I think that was a mistake....should of been a separate dispatch....just my two cent's....

Ya, if everything was programmed the same it wouldn't be a problem. They sound like they dispatch well, just confusing for response channels like you said... EMS now part of FD it just makes sense, I think I saw somewhere that they were going to combine dispatch once they transitioned over, they have!! I guess A5 and C5 are the same channel, just depends on if you're on a handheld, or mobile... Surely they'll come up with names for the channels, and there will be less confusion.

Tg 33003

This morning I heard a large call out of units to EManual Cleaver and Oak on a highrise incident, smoke and fire showing from an 4th floor window all going out on the TG 33003

I am deeming this a training channel, I was in the area down at Volker and Oak where units are to be staging on this so called 3 alarm fire and there's no one there, even channel 9 is driving around in dis may....right next to 41s Studios.

33003 KCFD Training 1

No fire trunks in the area.

go figure a table top fire.... on a live radio.

A explanation of the Fire TG Layout.

I just heard from my media contact over at Ch4. He just got this email from the FD PIO and shared it with me.

Hello,

All missions within KCFD, such as EMS, Fire, HazMat and Rescue, have been integrated into one radio system.

KCFD Communications will now dispatch everything over “A-1 Primary.”
Companies will be informed as to what channel to respond on.

A-3 and A-4 will be used primarily for calls involving a minimal amount of companies or radio transmission.

A-5 thru A-10 will be our TAC channels for fire ground operations, technical rescues or scenarios involving large scale or multiple companies.

The “A” zone is a transmission from the sending radio, to the tower and back to the receiving radio.
The strength of the tower allows us to communicate from one end of the city to the next (actually, beyond that).

When there are reception issues with the tower, we can switch over to the “C” zone, which allows transmission to be from radio to radio, without the use of the tower. (Talk-around for us that know what that is, radio to radio, no repeater)
The drawback is that you are limited in your radius for reception, but it will work great on a fire ground or within the same vicinity.

The “B” zone will primarily be used for training.

This is a rather condensed explanation.
Thanks, Joe V.

Better reception when it rains

I don't know about you guy's but when it "rains" I get 100% clear reception on the new P-25 system...no garble or intermittent transmition .....when it's clear I have to find a better location to place the 106.....I get maybe 87% clear audio..... just my observation....

Ya I seem to agree, when I go to St. Joe frequently, I hear them clearer on cloudy days vs clear. It's odd, but I also have been hearing better audio with the 396XT vs the 996T, 996T provides choppyness about 40-50% of the time and the 396XT is less than that.

I don't know if its just me then, but since KC moved to the new system my reception is horrible at best. Ive tried it in Lee's Summit, Independence, and Blue Springs all the same. It sounds like they are underwater and it loses the transmission but I always have 4 bars+ . I run a pro-197 with a stock antenna any suggestions?
