KSICS Anchor Thread

All,

Should I be hearing the same thing on KSICS on the troop A talk groups that I hear on the JoCo 800 system?

It seems that I hear a ton of KHP traffic on the JoCo 800 system and not much on the KSICS talkgroups (olathe, paola towers)

KHP has remained on the local 800 analog systems in Johnson and Wyandotte counties (just as they have in Topeka and Wichita) for interoperability and due to some coverage issues. This will probably change as Johnson County migrates to their new system and an additional KSICS site is activated along Brush Creek in northern Johnson County. Dispatch commonly simulcasts their side of the radio traffic on KSICS but you won't hear the units (kind of like the old low-band days!).

I monitored a conversation between what were apparently two sheriff's units which had a TG of 04335. In the course of that conversation they refered to it as the " Sac and Fox channel". I can't find the TG in the database, so there is no way to verify by a conversation alone. I also have been hearing activity from a courthouse on TG 0239. They discuss the judges lunch orders and such, but I have no idea where it's coming from.

0239- Should be radio maintenance...

Anyone heard traffic on the 4714 Nall tower? Some elevated areas of JOCO I can pick up a data channel and a couple 996T bars for signal. I tried from Johnnson Dr and Metcalf last week and was not getting one.

One error one new TG.........

Thanks for confirming the Sac & Fox TG Kaa951! I did make an error in my last entry, it wasn't 0239 but rather 0219. I realized my mistake when I stumbled across my notes this morning. I picked up another "unlisted" TG yesterday, 04051. It was being used for car to car traffic, mainly discussing which fried chicken they were going to have for dinner. They never got around to mentioning a county or troop.

Butler County FCC License Grant- WQLY760

Looks like Butler County / El Dorado is going to be using a 10 channel, 5 site system per the grant they just received from the FCC under callsign WQLY760.

Site 1) Existing KDOT El Dorado Tower
Site 2) "Heartland" at 4995 NW Hopkins Switch RD
Site 3) "Cole Creek" at 3277 SE 170 ST, Leon
Site 4) "Augusta East" located 8 miles east of Augusta
Site 5) "Andover" at 1606 N Andover RD.

KDOT is already talking about moving the existing 6 channel P-25 equipment to another site somewhere in western KS as soon as the new 10 channel equipment is installed.

Encryption rears it's ugly head

I monitored the almost unmistakable sound of encryption last night on TG 4258 which checks to Pottowatomie county as Ch.2.....I suppose it was inevitable that there would be some encryption. It has a distictly different sound than a merely digitized signal, and it was one I hoped not to hear at all...:-(

Was in Hutch for a wedding yesterday. On the way out of town last night heard several transmissions on 2389 off the Partridge tower that I can only guess were encryption. Sounded like really bad "going digital" duck talk with no intelligible voice at all. Since 2368 has been confirmed as Reno Co EMS I'm guessing this might be another Reno Co TG.

I heard the same thing on that talkgroup today as well. It sounded very similiar to a video on youtube demonstrating a scanner picking up encryption..

I am hearing traffic on TG 2381 on the Partridge tower. I suspect this may be the Reno County sheriff. I have heard them talking about the performance of the new radios. They have also been talking about them during normal communications on VHF.

Looking for a good site to program.... I'm located at 13th and Maize roads. I seem to be getting very weak signals no matter what Antenna I use. Possible it's interference, seems there are a ton of cell sites out here. No where on the site does it have a location for Sedgwick. Thanks for any advice!!

hey has anyone pickup talkgroup 451 or 661. On 451 i was listening to Reno Co EOC i believe they was going to be at HCC today.
