Sorry Mr. Wolf but the Police are encrypted as well. Even Lindenhurst is encrypted.

That a possibility for fire communication on Starcom 21 for those departments. Currently on starcom TGID's 33397-33405 are fire channels. Just not active yet. And there are several unassigned talk groups. For example TGID'S 33188-33200 and 33237-33250.

CENCOMM

This evening was searching on tower 115 and CENCOMM talk group 34103 was in the clear. About time these towns are telling Lake county we want to be in the clear. Obviously no reason to hide behind the secured communications

Sheriff Curran from the article: "I am an advocate of transparency..."

I smell hypocrisy.

A-men, I plan on writing a letter to the editor about Police radio encryption with in the next two weeks, any tips to increase the chances of it getting published, would be appreciated. Thanks

Sorry folks... no amount of pleading, begging, whining or crying is going to change the decision to use Encryption. Cook County set the precedence .. People like Ray Kelly blatantly getting on Lake County's EDACS system pretty much sealed that deal.. Remember being able to monitor is a privilege not a right and to say " its my tax dollars I can hear what the police are doing!" is always trumped by reasons of Officer safety ...You could be in the UK where nothing is able to be monitored...

But this isn't the UK and who said it was a privilege for me to monitor??? This isn't driving, It's the people's airwaves sir!!!! But anyway... Write letters to your congressman and senators .... don't waste your time on the media, they can't help anyway!

Well you can't listen to them but you can watch them https://patch.com/illinois/lakeforest/local-sheriffs-deputies-be-featured-live-pd, so why did they encrypt if they agreed to this?
Remember even cook county went on cops a couple of times after going encrypted. I'm sure they will not let them tape live pd for long in Lake County. Just enough to say see we weren't hiding anything. And all except for the breaking and entering call the Sheriff's Dept was late to and a domestic dispute . All of the other action revolved around the flooding not very eventful when they are are being watched are they :)

Keep dreaming. ....Peoples airwaves LOL...Its the police's communications and they have the right to choose radio allow traffic to be heard or not.
