Don't even bother 40% of the time my scanner are not even turned on. Mostly use the portable scanner when I go on vacation and yes I could give two **** what the visiting state laws are " I just do it."

28 June is the Day

According to my friend at the LCSO this evening... "The cutover begins tomorrow... phased within an 8 hour period. Everyone is confident that it will work well - training has been accomplished and a fail-safe is in place just in case. DOT and other county departments follow later in the week."

Well that breaks my heart. I have been listening for the past 25 years. To our sheriff's department and tomorrow it all comes to a end.

Yep, me too. [emoji24] Forty years for me, starting with a 4-channel RS crystal scanner. The end of an era for me.

I feel for you guys. I've already decided that if my area goes total enc that I'll simply move to an area where the county is poor enough, they can't afford encryption. Out of state if need be. 73, n9zas

Don't forget to send in those freedom of information act's. Keep them overwhelmed with requests that their man/woman power can't keep up with or afford to staff.

To be fair, without a good reason for filing, it would never even get to the point where it would waste someone's time..

Got a few new hits today from Unitrunker on TGs in the 334xx series that aren't listed in the DB. No voice calls, just affiliations.

Great catch Ron! Yes, just licensed last week... a fill-in repeater to assure coverage for Wauconda/Volo/Island Lake, now that District 34 (Wauconda Fire District) is dispatched by Lake Zurich, about six miles southeast... simulcast with LZ's frequency.

For the last couple of days I've been hearing Lake County broadcast ISPERNs on 02 ISPERN (9050) using radio ID 240028.

I had a horrible time getting them to come in yesterday on 155.475. Sounded very "fadey" and sort of similar to how the VHF simulcasts of the DU-COMM fire channels sound. I'm using an outdoor discone on a 10 foot pole with a preamp that gets DeKalb County S6-7, so I highly doubt it was on my end.

All secured

Today several Lake county cities transmissions all secured. At this time I would like to thanks all the internet streamers for ruining our hobby. Will go back to monitoring ISP dist 2 and fire stuff. Have a great day.

Waukegan PD is now on the Starcom21 system in an encrypted mode. North Chicago and Zion PDs are still on their original analog frequencies (for the time being).
From what I hear, Waukegan Fire is staying on VHF.

Smart they are

Today while monitoring Lake counties secured system a tac channel was in the clear today. I will not tell the id # but this is a very smart move by my local county with a secured system. Very smart guys to have a tac channel in the clear. Love the government people.
