My email can handle some pretty big files.. Not sure how big, but I guess we are about to find out!

So, in my 396T, I have Lexington's TRS as a System all to itself, and the Conventional stuff as it's own special group as well. For the 396, I need to Program each "Virtual Site" as a Group within the Lexington TRS System? So I will have 4 Groups, each representing each site?

And with each site (Group) I need to have the same talkgroup information in each one correct?

Sorry for being bothersome, I'm still learning about the 396T.

I'm in a motel in Corydon IN and will pass through bout noon tomorrow. Going West last week site 000 worked fine. Of course LCN 1 through 6 may be all that is used.

Don't forget to wave.

The radio techs worked on this TRS Friday and their work was obvious this morning... Virtual Site Four comes in Lima-Charlie along the river in Clark Co off KY 418 (Athens-Boonesboro Pike)... couldn't hear anything on the other two sites but heard all on Site Four. Still don't know what the "spare" freq is for, no traffic on that one this morning..... All agencies, except a few exclusive to UK have been on Virtual Sites One, Three and Four... Have now programmed the three sites into separate banks on the PRO 96 and am hearing all the traffic(except as noted), everything still appears to be on Virtual Site One... couldn't test to see if the Lexington Fire traffic on Site Four along the river was only broadcast on Site Four--neither the 96 nor 396 would receive a Control for the other two sites....

UPDATE: Virtual Site #3 is changed as of 09/04, per Trunker position #4 is not active and #6 is now 859.93750. The LCN skips from #3 to #5 with eight slots in the the LCN. I left the freq for LCN #4 (858.98750) in place (because I was too lazy to change it)... the new LCN tracks well on both the PRO 96 and the 396 as follows:

LEX TRS-Virtual Site 3
LEX PS3-1C1 856.43750
LEX PS3-1/2 857.43750
LEX PS3-1/3 858.43750
(LEX PS3-2/4 858.98750)
LEX PS3-1/5 859.43750
LEX PS3-2/6 859.93750
LEX PS3-1C7 855.26250
LEX PS3-1/8 856.86250

Virtual Site One seems to be unchanged, I couldn't monitor Virtual Site Four from Woodford County to see if there are any changes there...

Monitored Virtual Site #4 using Trunker (thanx Rick!) this morning, all is well there; the only change to the system as of 0745 on 05 Sept is that noted yesterday with the addition of LCN #6 on Virtual Site #3 and the "deactivation" of LCN #4 on Virtual Site #3...

Any riot in Lexington last night with the "win" over U of L? I saw the goalposts go down with three minutes of the win.

Also, with the reprogramming of the radios, did they add or delete talkgroups. This would have been an ideal time to do it. And I was wondering if there were any special talkgroups in use last night.

AL
PS UK fans are weird, taking sod home to remember the win. It will probably be a long time before another win; UL needs a new coach. ;)

The riot was trying to get thru the parking lot to the cars, running the gauntlet, as it were.... like the poor drunk pulling the blue cooler on wheels behind him who tossed something at the windshield of a couple of UK Parking Enforcement Officers as they were patrolling in their golf cart.... he ran away when she started talking on her radio...

I monitored a few new talk groups (working on specific IDs for them--seemed to be already assigned but previously unused UK agency talk groups, UK Med Center; Building Security, etc), generally, the tried-and-true patches (populated by law enforcement and security--including the rookie who announced to the world, "In fifteen minutes there will be parachuters[sic] landing in the stadium, just don't want anyone to worry!") were in place with the usual transportation and other talk groups active. Seems all of the "old" system talk groups have migrated to the "new" system...

There is something going on with Virtual Site 3... one freq isn't used in the LCN (currently position #4) and there is no traffic on LCN #1 while the other freqs are wall-to-wall with talk.... Both VS #1 and VS #4 are status quo, normal traffic and very busy last night for the game (I can't monitor VS #4 from the house but hear #1 and #3 very well).

With the watering restrictions in place because of the drought, it is probably the only green grass in the area...

Win or lose, any UK Sports activity is a good time to monitor the goings-on with the TRS and ancillary systems associated with UK Sports.... someday I might volunteer for an inside or near the arena job so I can monitor the close-in comms....

I wonder if it's for I-calls or something of that nature. EDACs with it's patching seems to make it easier to share information. But I'm sure it was a wild night overall.

They used to have that great big band directors stand near the stadium, maybe you could use that as a monitoring post. I have not been on campus for many years, so don't know if it's still there.

Anyone know what Lexington FD is doing with the radio system today? I heard alot of talk about "radio shop and repairs" and other chatter about the system. For the first time in a while I've been picking them up just fine, so knowing my luck, that will change.

Working to identify a few new talk groups picked up at the game today.... it was serendipitous, they sent me to Commonwealth with a media id giving me access to any place I wanted to go... I had two scanners going (the 96 and the 396)... and the talk on the UK Athletics Association LTR was interesting. Never heard so much consternation over pretzels and pizza in my life, almost like being a referee at a slumber party! The folks standing around me didn't fully understand, I'm in the Press Box and I'd rather listen to my scanners? Will post the new TGIDs when they are confirmed....

Sweetness!

I have the UK Atheletics LTR system programmed into my 396, but I'm a bit too far to pull it in. But, I'm sure it'l come in handy if I'm ever in town during a game.

Can't wait to cash in on the new TG's!! Thanks a mill' UC!

Pizza and Pretzels means more high dollar beer sales, I wonder what would happen fi they sold blue colored beer... anyway, more pizzas, pretzels = more beer sold = more drunks = outstanding action activity on the scanner. I'm not sure it's Kentucky math, but could be close. :)

I was wondering what does the 396 do with close call on an EDACS system. Does it pick up transmissions or individual radios even though no tracking. I know for the LTR it would give you new frequncies to scan.

When I use the 396 on Close Call it picks up the individual radio on it's transmit freq, same when close to one of the UK Athletics radios. The UKAA system has only four freqs but it was a matter of putting them in the correct order for monitoring...
