At this point plug them in from my earlier post in that order and you should be able to hear all the traffic on the system... Don't know how well you'll be able to receive this TSR from Irvine with a duck....

I can recieve it marginally, like I said... There are some dead spots around her bedroom, but I can usually get it the closer I get to the window.

Outside, the RS800 pulls it in good.. Thanks!

That is a hole in the LCN... Trunker runs it from slot #5 to slot #7....I put that freq in there so the thing would scan (that is one of the Nextelled freqs)... I have been told that there is another site to be configured using the final seven freqs--And, an rr.commer in Lexington was picking up control channel on one of the final seven freqs.... so, here we go!

Here is the seemingly daily update on Lexington's New TRS.... it is apparently evolving before our ears... Currently it appears there are two virtual sites composed of freqs from Sites 1 and 2 from the Lexington License and the UK License....

An anon rr.com member sent me an email explaining what his experiments led to: he lives closer to the Patterson Office Tower Site so he attenuated the Control Channel for the second virtual site (855.26250 on the Winchester Rd site) and he doesn't hang up as much as before.... I am receiving a lot of simulcast transmissions on the system now. When I am mobile my scanners read both control channels and use that info to keep the talk groups flowing, although there are occasional decoding "accidents"....

For what it is worth, the Site IDs used here are from the 396 decoding of the control channels, the numbers are from both the PRO 96 and 97.... I have run Trunker on Sites 1 and 3 but can't get a solid control channel to run it on Site 4....

Here are the freqs again showing the sites and order--I am NOT including the freqs apparently for Site Four (yet):

(System site/FCC Site/LCN)
LEX 1(4)-1 857.26250 (Patterson -UK)
LEX 1(4)-2 858.26250 (Patterson -UK)
LEX 1(4)-3 859.26250 (Patterson -UK)
LEX 1(4)-4C 854.71250 (Patterson -UK)
LEX 1(4)-5C 856.26250 (Patterson -UK)
LEX 1(4)-6 855.21250 (Patterson -UK)
LEX 1(2)-7 856.93750 (Clays Ferry)
LEX 1(2)-8 857.93750 (Clays Ferry)
LEX 3(1)-1 856.43750 (Winchester RD)
LEX 3(1)-2 857.43750 (Winchester RD)
LEX 3(1)-3 858.43750 (Winchester RD)
LEX 3(2)-4 858.98750 (Clays Ferry)
LEX 3(1)-5 859.43750 (Winchester RD)
LEX 3(1)-N 860.93750 (this is a Nexteled freq... Trunker shows the LCN as #4,#5,#7 with nothing in #6)
LEX 3(1)-7C 855.26250 (Winchester RD)
LEX 3(1)-8 856.86250 (Winchester RD)

The talk groups, by the way, remain unchanged, just leave them programmed as they have been and all should be well.... the two sites listed in this post have been confirmed thru Trunker, Site Four will join them as soon as I can get a good signal for trunker, Thanx Rick! I have no idea why there is no Site Two as yet...

Thanx for all the help from astute you rr.commers.... I have read the smoke and am en route! Just bear with me as this thing evolves..... and keep the info flowing.

Thank GOD for programming software... I couldn't imagine re-programming all my scanners by hand!!

I couldn't agree more! This is driving me crazy.... but I feel obligated to pass along what I have figured out or what others have sent me that works.... and I am so happy everyone who listens to the Lexington TRS is so patient.... I know how bad it was the Monday they changed the control channel feq on the old system and no one heard anything!

Stay tuned, as they say, updates as they become available....

Yeah thanks lot uc! Glad you're keeping us all updated. Like many others, I'm really nitpicky about keeping the most up to date stuff programmed!

SO I take it I need to replace the 23 frequencies in the "System LCN" with these?

I'd plan on 23 or 24 slots when the dust settles.... since the first two sites have 8 slots in the LCN (site 2 has seven actual and one "hole") I'm betting the third site will have eight slots as well...

As of this writing you should be ok with the first 16 freqs programmed in the order from my earlier post today... if you plan to go mobile you will have to punch buttons; but, as pointed out by the anon rr.com member (he really sent me an email to my work address with a no name yahoo account with the profile blank and signed it "anon rr.com member from Lexington"-- I was a little concerned about putting so much contact info out there but so many people send me stuff it has made it a lot easier being a db admin), he attentuated the control channel further from his shack and has fewer decode "accidents".

I fall into that "nitpicky" category as well which is why I am hoping everyone would rather make daily reporgramming trips to the computer rather than face another of those silent Mondays with nothing but EDACS buzz...

The way things are going it shouldn't be too long now... I'd bet before the end of the month it should be solid--considering they received their new/replacement freqs on 22 Jun and are this far along. The biggest problem I'd say is reprogramming all the non-base radios with the new info, but there are some really good techs working on it....
From what (and where) I've been able to monitor this system offers better coverage, especially in some of the "deaf" areas in the rural parts of the county and along the river.... it appears the people who have built this system took what the folks on the streets wanted and needed and stood up a good system for them.

What's with the 5 beeps after every transmission? Haven't heard anything on the talkgroups, probably something I did.

Plz bear with me, my cable took a lightning hit during the other festivities on the Fourth, it will require the cable folks to make a visit to the pole near the homestead.... that is why the delay in responding, posting, etc....

They are the hallmarks of an EDACS system... the "anti-scannist" beeps created to make it fdifficult to scan EDACS systems using pre-trun tracker 2 scanners... these beeps also contain info used to end the conversation or otherwise continue it on another freq.... keep in miond, this system is evolving as we listen.... two virtual sites are in operation and a third appears to be in configuration right now (trunker revealed six slots in the configuration of Site 4 this morning with 854.21250 as control)... some agencies are on both sites some agencies are only on the first site.... again, all of this is subject to change as the new site goes on line.

unitcharlie ,
Just to clarify a question I have about the Lexington system, this is what you have listed as the correct EDACS order, do I need any other frequencies or just as you posted it? Just wanted to make sure before I make my Richmond trip the first part of next week. Will I need to place them in order as listed or break them up as to sites locations in order to track them correctly?

BTW: thanks for the files.

No Problem... always happy to share with someone who helps rr.com!

As of this writing I can track the system using the order posted in my PRO 96... Based upon input from a fellow rr.commer in Lexington I have attenuated LEX 3(1)-7C 855.26250 (Winchester RD) because most of my monitoring is closer to the Patterson Office Tower Site than the Winchester RD site--this fellow lives closer to POT so he experimented and came up with this solution so he could follow the talk. Since you will be in Richmond you might try to attenuate LEX 1(4)-4C 854.71250 (Winchester RD--Closer to Richmond than Patterson Office Tower) if you are having trouble keeping the system tracking... This seems to be a partial simulcast system with some agencies on both Sites 1 & 3 and some just on Site 1 (POT)... I haven't had the patience to sit down and make lists of the agencies but a quick listen has LEX FD & UK PD on both sites; the Buggy medical reports appear to be on Site 1, but are they dispatched on both sites.... LEXTRAN, Animal Control and some of the other UK agencies appear to be only on Site 1 (POT).

Let me know when you get here if you need any more info....
be careful on the road!

Does Lexington have any Police helicopters? I heard they had one, but unsure if the rumor was true, or if they still do..

If they do, where on the band is it usually at? What callsign do they use?

(Sorry, I'm a big heli freak  )

Lexington has a police chopper--a converted OH-58 that looks pretty cool! They operate on Friday and Saturday evenings and other times as needed. They operate on various channels when doing police work, listen for Air-1. You'll also hear them on the Blue Grass Airport tower freqs as either Air-1 or N911LP.

I've spotted Lexington's chopper over Versailles a few times helping with surveillance, although a retired county cop I talked to said all it really does is tip off whoever they're watching most of the time.
