Have anyone tryed Unidens new 436 or 536 on the new 800 P25 system - if it picks it up without garbled sound? I have a BCD396XT - and it is just terrible !!

Read Post #18. It doesn't matter what scanner you have. With 100% encryption, your scanner is now silent.

they switched at 2AM this morning, no more EDACS

party is over, sell me all your EDACS radios for cheap and put the scanner junk on ebay lol :p

all talk groups on the new 700/800 system are full time encryption AFAIK

Miami Dade finally is getting caught up to the rest of the USA when it comes to Encryption. All big cities and counties that are still on an old conventional and EDACS system are going to get caught up into the new digital trunking world. Especially in a crime and drug area, it was just a matter of time.

Its in full force at this point and it has nothing to do fully with streaming audio. Its a contributing factor. Keep in mind cities and counties were encrypting 10 to 15 years before streaming audio and the internet.

The only thing that maybe I can even see a shinning light somewhere light years away is that people will have to apply for a scanner radio or commerical radio permit for their city or county to listen to encrypted traffic.

Of course there will probably be yearly fee's for this if and I mean if its even possible. Its a great thing to talk about. The scanner market is taking a big huge hit and very understandable why.

What would be nice is if all LE streaming audio is put to a hault. A memo sent from RR to all LE agencies worldwide that all radio traffic ceased.

Then have some policies and procedures put into place with your city or county to have a permit to carry a commerical grade radio with your city or county to listen only, no transmit.

All the radios are bought by the owner and managed by the city or county and put a fee on it.

What a concept. Do a full background paid by the owner and an interview by the cities law enforcement and a decision made.

What a nice money maker for the city or the county. This would also help manage and pay for the trunked radio sites and maintain them. You put a nice heavy tax on it and I am sure people will pay.

I say 1,000 bucks a year for a fee to have a radio. I say that would be nice and fair.

Plus if you had any felony's or a bad record then you would be kicked out of the program.

Give me some feedback on my suggestion.

I am not a beginner in scanning - just for your info !!
By the way - remember not everything is encrypted "just" LE.
Intercoast dispatch on the new P25 is TG 30029
My question was:

Is the primary use for the 700 MHz system the interop tg´s ?

Why did Miami do go to encryption ? Well there goes our freedom

Miami went to Encryption because there are other parts of Florida that are using fulltime Encryption as well as other areas of the USA.

Its a way to keep the general public and the media out of their business as well as it keeps the bad guys from having one step in front of LE to do their job.

It sucks, trust me. My city has been in fullforce for the past 13 years and its never coming back. More and more counties and cities are rolling in that direction and there is no stoping it. The industry is coming to a slow death and there is nothing nobody can do about it.

The scanner industry is feeling the pain too as their sales and profit and units being sold are slipping threw their fingers and there is nothing they can do about it either. Encryption is cheap and is also becoming part of the package that is being built into these radios at hardly no cost and the cities and counties are drinking the kool-aid from Motorola and the other players and its a win win for them.

So sorry that you finally are having to get use to silence but some of us have been silent for years now.

That sucks I just paid $500 for a new scanner. I should've never done it

This has been in the works since the system was planned and discussed over here for sometime.
You did not lose any freedom but if you want a big culprit blame all the broadcastify and similar.

As a previous poster said encryption is a very low cost and since 9/11 become the norm. Some places such as Apopka encrypt everything on their Phase II system and I mean fire and police.

Seminole County, Florida (FL) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

I do not see a APCO P25 Phase II system in Apopka

Apopka is not in Seminole County . Orange County. Yes, they have TDMA, yes LEO and Fire are encrypted.

Sure wish jakeportland would stop posting nonsense about encryption, it seems more time is spent responding to that than discussing real information. :banghead:

Let's respect the original reason for the thread and not veer off on side topics.

Gentlemen, one final warning before I start to hand out infractions.

This thread is for discussing Miami-Dade.

It is not for discussing Apopka or events that happened on the other side of the country.

Please stay on topic. Thanks.

I'm getting some voices (unencrypted)

So, this is what I have found:

- Fire is not on this system (they are still on UHF) so you can still monitor them
- On the new Miami-Dade P25 system I have been able to pick up unencrypted transmissions on TG
10256 (MIA Landside Operations 1),
30029 (Station 6 - Intracoastal Dispatch ) and
10676 (Metrorail)
10078 (Metrorail)

The conversations are in the clear but it seems the conversations are being cut short

I have a RS Pro-96

I'll keep listening
