Looking at trunk tracker for neighbors and it is showing numerous new sites on the air, possibly up in the north area as I can't get a signal from the actual sites in my area.

Can’t hear either from my spot in the SCV, however, I get intermittent hits on 769.80625 $690

I can actually hear Site 20 well-enough to decode it, if I use the right receiver. It is identifying as WRBV902 and is set up as follows:

772.93125 - CC
772.18125 - alt
771.93125 - alt
770.54375 - alt
769.30625
769.80625

It lists some new neighbors that are not in the Db:

Site 27: 773.86875
Site 31: 774.36875
Site 57: 477.51250

Site 50 is a bit harder to hear here, but I was able to grab the following:

477.0625 - CC
476.9125 - alt
476.7875 - alt
476.9375 - alt

It looks like the future LASD system will have a lot of encrypted channels. The new APX8000 configuration has both old and new programming with the new having dispatch channels in the clear while "L" tac being encrypted with AES256. More to follow...

It was only a matter of time.. Everything but dispatch will be encrypted and even that could change. lots of units already using the system encrypted.

a. All dispatch channels will remain conventional narrow banded and in the clear
b. All L-tac & A-tac channels will be on the LARICS trunk system and encrypted
c. All C-tac channels will remain conventional narrow banded and in the clear

Its been pretty clear for quite some time the system will be ENC for most law enforcement users.

For specifics, as previously reported, each station will have a LTAC, METRO and Dispatch talkgroup. The existing analog LTACS frequencies are going away and being used for LARICS. Dispatch will remain analog conventional for the time being.

Will LACoFD also be ENC? I hope not.

Noticed in a recent board meeting they had a map of LMR sites. (missing are 3 Catalina sites)

I've found dedicated licenses (700mhz trunked SY or UHF trunked YG) for every site listed EXCEPT LAN and CLM (Lancaster and Claremont)

Seeing updates for LASD talkgroups in the DB - are they currently simulcasting on this system?

Its not really simulcasting.

On this type of trunked system, you will only hear a talkgroup if there is a subscriber radio on that talkgroup affiliated to the specific site you are monitoring. So if someone affiliates on the downtown site on a certain talkgroup, you wont hear that activity on Oat Mtn unless there is a user on Oat that also affiliated using the same talkgroup.
