I thought maybe I am not picking up the right trunked site but I guess it was just for testing for now.

I am picking up TSB-35 on Site 26 tonight. Working nicely. Programmed all of Control Channels in my G5 correctly and it roams beautiful between sites while driving thru the LA area. Now its time to program the Moto in Phase II mode and setup. Their frequency identifier table is huge. See attached.

I was able to program my Motorola APX 7000 using NAS for the new Phase II TDMA system using the ID's above and it works beautiful. I have BLUE-8 and Aero Burueau programmed in a scanlist. That's it for now. Love the Digitial P25. I just programmed in the SOUTH 700mhz Simulcast system which I know that works in my area.

If you are using the 700 mhz sites use the first 4 ID's above 00-03
If you are using the UHF-2 Sites then you ID's above 04-13
If you have a dual band 700/800/UHF-2 then use all of the ID's above

No just VHF/700/800. Would be great if it was UHF-2/700/800 so I can add all of the 700 and UHF-2 Sites. Works great for now. Just testing out the NAS programming in Phase II mode and works great with TSB-35 - BLUE-8 - and the AERO Bureau. Just three talkgroups for now. Add more to the zones as times goes.

Want to get an APX 8000 but think will wait for a couple of years for the APX NEXT to work out the firmware and software bugs. It's basically an 8000 radio guts with a touch screen and Android operating system. Sweet touch screen radio though.

For those of you interested, it looks like the West simulcast is getting some love. I know Motorola Engineers have been busy doing optimization on specific cells on TG 37 lately.

Site 29: RICS West Simulcast 700
774.36875MHz is primary CC

Site 59: RICS West Simulcast UHF
483.45000MHz is primary CC

And a new UHF site, Site 60 is being advertised. Maybe Burnt Peak UHF based on the numbering scheme in use? I see it currently licensed at Baldwin Hills, Rio Hondo, and Blue Ridge. (As always, subject to change)
478.81250MHz is the primary CC

Stay tuned...

Site 60 is nice and strong in the SCV - so, yeah, it's most-likely on Burnt.

Site: 60
NAC: $693
Sys: $69F
WACN: BEE00

478.6375 a
478.6625 a
478.7875 a
478.8125 c

What's your thought on monitoring just using the 700 freq only APX8000 so expensive APX 1000 seen for 1000$ or so I like 7000 also

That's a good question because I have an APX 900 that is only 700/800mhz and you just find the LA-RICS sites that are in the 700 mhz band and program only those sites. I programmed the South Simulcast 700 site and it works pretty good for me in my area. I am able to hear a few talkgroups and that's it for right now. Too early in the game for anything else right now. I am not sure why LA-RICS is a mixture of 700/UHF-2 bands for their system. There must be a logical and technical reason for it. Maybe somebody can chime and and answer this question

But having the 7000 or the 8000 would be ideal but the cost is a huge difference. But honestly for the price I would look at the Unication G-5 radio that is in the UHF-2 band and also 700/800 mhz. That radio is my go to radio and works great for the price. Sometimes I use that radio over my APX radios. Go figure.

The dual band infrastructure dates back from when the t-band was supposed to go away. LARICS would be the only system in the region with alternative spectrum if the t-band was to be vacated and auctioned off by the FCC. The system was built to have equal coverage and capacity on UHF (Phase 1 and 2) and 700 (Phase 2 only).

Remember you will only hear traffic for a particular TG if there is a radio affiliated on that site for that TG.

So its possible if you only monitor a single 700Mhz site and the TGs users are not affiliated with it, but instead on UHF, you will miss the TG traffic.

Not sure if you guys saw this update on the LA-RICS Twitter feed today, " We are excited to announce the first LA-RICS sub-system, the "Narrowband Mobile Data Network" (NMDN), successfully went live last Thursday, and we cutover users to the system!! NMDN is now being used by the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD)"..." LACoFD is primarily using the NMDN system to dispatch emergency call alerts and incident information from their CAD to all the fire stations and vehicles. "

If anyone is interested in the NMDN system recently deployed by LACoFD...
