• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hello all, I am doing some research for an upcoming project and need some assistance from the M/A-COM experts on the team here...

First off, does anyone have a compiled list of the option codes that are supported under the P7100IP series portable radios???

I have put together a list of the options that my limited research has shown me are compatible for this unit so far, but I am always open for ideas, comments, and suggestions as well. So if anyone has any futher input it would be appreciated.

My Confirmed P7100IP Options List:

  • 01 Conventional Priority Scan
  • 04 EDACS Group Scan
  • 05 EDACS Priority Scan
  • 06 EDACS ProScan/ProSound/Wide Area Scan
  • 07 EDACS Dynamic ReGroup
  • 08 EDACS Emergency
  • 09 Type 99 Encode
  • 10 Conventional Emergency
  • 12 AEGIS Digital Voice
  • 14 DES Encryption
  • 16 EDACS/P25 Mobile Data
  • 17 EDACS Status/Message
  • 21 EDACS Security Key (ESK) / P25 Personality Lock
  • 22 ProFile
  • 23 Narrow Band
  • 29 ProVoice Digital Voice
  • 33 P25 Common Air Interface (CIA) - P25 Conventional
  • 34 Direct Frequency Entry (FPP)
  • 35 P25 Over-The-Air Rekeying (OTAR)
  • 36 Personality Cloning
  • 37 AES Encryption
  • 38 TextLink
  • 39 P25 Trunking

I addition, I am trying to see if the following options are supported under the P7100IP platform as well since I could not seem to find any information to confirm or deny these options.

My Unconfirmed Options List:

  • 02 EDACS 3 Site System Scan
  • 13 VGE Encryption
  • 15 VGS Encryption
  • 18 EDACS Test Unit (What is this anyway???)
  • 28 Multi-Radio ProScan/ProSound (MURPS)
  • 31 Smart Battery
  • 32 FIPS 140-2

Finally, can anyone tell me what the preferred firmware/dsp flash is for this radio with features as listed in the confirmed list? This must also be one that is "Rebanded" and can still be programmed with "Programmer" software. Also, what is the highest revision that does NOT require the internet authentication process as well.

Thank you all for your comments and please also feel free to e-mail me directly off the board as well at: W2GLD@arrl.net

Regards,

The only difference i see from your confirmed list to the manual is that 32 should be confirmed.

V18 of programmer does not require a key. V19 was the first to require it. R09B02 is the latest flash for version 18 of programmer for your P7100. Also older flash will work depending on useage

TEST UNIT refers to system equipment. There is a RANGR, ORION, and 7100 version of the test unit. They are used by the radio system to test each RF channel in a specified time and report any problems to the IEA, site sentry or whatever alarming system you have.
