June 4th around 20:30 On New Jersey Transit territory, in the Roseville Cut, a guy accidentaly got zapped by the overhead catinary wire while carrying bolt cutters and a hacksaw, on a very rainy night! He had a buddy near by, who the cops used to Identify his alert and breathing, but burnt body, after he fell from the street level walkway that he was on, to the track level, where the cops found him.
I found out from a good source, that there are some antique whistle signs left over from the Erie Lackawanna hanging underneath said bridge, near the catinary wires, so maybee he was looking to risk his life for 100 bucks at Hoboken day. I managed to record the event, right after the part where the Transit Cop arrives on scene, breathing heavy and says "He was on fire when I arrived, he is out now thanks to the rain, alert and conscious at this time!"
Crazy night, never made the papers either.
This was the night after Port Morris yard had a man with a shot gun rummaging through papers in the yard office, right before an employee discovered him and called the cops. The police arrived and found that he had fled west into Netcong, so Cops from three towns and two K-9 Cops from the Sherrifs Dept. searched most of the night, and hadnt found him as of 0400 when I finaly ran out of IV bags of green tea and went to sleep. During the catinary zaping incedent recording, 20 something hours later, that I made, you hear the Shift Sgt say "He is on his way to Quarters to do paperwork on this incedent, and that Roxbury Job" so perhaps they did catch him, I sure hope so.
I love listening to the Transit Cops on 160.83 MHz, true professionals, and they are buisy any hour of the day or night. They also have incredible radio discipline, considering the number of people on air and the amount of territory covered.
