It's not repeated as it is a direct channel from I *think* 3 selectable base stations. But it's still in use. Not sure of the protocol as to when / where it is used as there is also a tg on FIRST that can also be used - maybe because of the mutual aid from Delaware Trooper 4?

There are 12 tower sites throughout the state for 44.74 (HeliOps), it is patched to the Syscom Talkgroup on the MD First System, which also also patched to 7Air60 which the last I knew was off of only the Baltimore and Salisbury Sites, but there are multiple sites planned.

There are 10 tower sites throughout the state for 47.66 (HeliMed) I am not sure if it is patched to anything, yes they do have a talkgroup on the MDFirst system and at some point it will also be patched to 7Air67 with multiple sites.

So for us who want to listen to (HeliOps) FULL TIME other then listening to 44.7400 (depending on where you are) will there ever be a statewide TG to listen too ?

MDE's emergency response spill vehicles are parked at 1800 Washington Blvd in Baltimore. Montgomery Park building. I think they have a few people there 24 hours to respond.

They respond from Washington Blvd during the day, they respond from home at night, the MJOC/MDEM answers their phone after hours and dispatches them, during the day they answer their own phones and dispatch themselves.

I used to work at MDEM and still have friends who work for MDE and MDEM and they have confirmed that this is still there operation.

Edit: If you need further verification, I can have someone from MDE come on here and verify, they have done it before.

Whatever is listed in the database, it is not a full time talkgroup, there are no full time talkgroups on the State system, it is only alive on certain tower sites when that talkgroup is activated on the system by a subscriber unit.

2000 local Trooper-1 Chopper N382MD was up Cecil County way and heard departing area back
to Martin State on 44.740 pl 110.9. Not that strong signal here so maybe was on Harford Cty site.
I use old BC-785 on PL search mode on 44.740.Maybe all the 44.740 sites use pl codes.

MEMA/MDEM/MJOC at night

Their Office during the the day

Last night, I heard MDE 5607 calling the MJOC on the MDE-ERD 4 talkgroup, the unit was telling the MJOC they were clear their incident, at which time the MJOC dispatched them to another call on I-83 SB at Cold Spring for the fuel pump off, it ended up being NB, but I think it is pretty clear that the MJOC still dispatches MDE after hours.

It looks like the MD Dept of Health totally redid their talk groups on the MD First system. A lot of Talk groups are missing now.
They have far too many talk groups IMO. I guess they are set up for "the big one," but I'm more in the KISS camp.

I don't think they added or deleted any of the talkgroups. They changed the name from Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to Maryland Department of Health and updated the talkgroups.

The talkgroups for Maryland Department pf Health are very minimally used. I only have seen about 6 on the list routinely used in the Baltimore area. They used to do a lot of testing between different departments on the different "Hail" talkgroups but I don't even hear that anymore.

Even during Covid when you think their talkgroups would be active, I only saw 2-3 talkgroups active related to Covid. They mostly use phones and computers instead of radios.

You see this a lot with new trunked systems. People get wide-eyed and over-resource because they can but end up never conforming their business operations to match. Look at Allegany County - it has far more talk groups than Anne Arundel County which is a much busier jurisdiction (I'm talking about the fire-side). I doubt they ever use 3/4 of them.

The more channels you use, the more Dispatch has to monitor at once. Sometimes just using a few is better.
