In my last shack, I had everything in one Rack (Box) an 8U Black Woodgrain Rack (24"hx21w"x16"deep) which took up the whole left side of my corner desk, reducing my workspace. Great for the radios/scanners not good for desk space.
In this new change, I found smaller narrow standard rack boxes on ebay. Now I could "split" the rack and have plenty of desk working space. These new boxes are 4U and 2U and are only six inches deep and not expensive. The 4U fits perfectly under my monitors and puts my main radios right upfront. With room on top of the box for the speakers that you do not see, that sits behind the 2 center monitors.
Center Desk - "Digital Side"
Unication G4 700-800mhz - Monitoring P25 Phase I/II Simulcast Systems, with excellent results, better than the SDS200
Uniden SDS200 - Monitoring 700-800mhz - P25 Phase I/II Simulcast Systems
Uniden BCD996P2 - Monitoring UHF/700-800mhz - P25 Phase I/II Systems
Motorola XTL2500 and XTL5000 - My Agency
3 RTL-SDR's on the Right Screen, Monitoring P25 Phase I/II Simulcast Systems, with the BEST Results, better than the G4 or SDS200
Side Desk - Analog/Portable Side
Motorola XTS5000 Handheld - My Agency
SDS100 - Programmed identical to my SDS200 - Grab and Go, I Have a desktop Panavise Clip for it, just have to mount it.
2 BCT125AT's on the cheap bookshelf ends. Monitoring Air/Feds, Weather, Local Media Helicopters, and other misc. Analog. One stays, one is grab and go.
2 BCT15x's - 2 Broadcastify Feeds - Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Dispatch and Tactical
All the mobile/base units run into an Electroline 8-way 2800 Series Splitter/Amplifier.
2 Antennas in Attic, 1-VHF/UHF Tram Base Discone, and 2-700-800mhz Yagi both into a Comet Duplexer with a 30-foot RG6 drop into the Electroline.
RTL-SDRs are using the Motorola 4-inch XE 700-800mhz handheld rubber duckie.
In the coming weeks, I will be adding a Yaesu FTM-6000R, which will also be part of a new "Comms Go Bag" I'm building.
