Overnight 0100am local COSMIC-41 with MAINE-91 #58-0021 on Huntress 364.200.
Haven't heard that freq used in long time.. Was trying to coordinate with ZNY on 133.975.
Maine-91 just came South at FL-20k and did U-turn near DC and went back to Maine.
Cosmic-41 did rtb A/C at 0120 local.
I heard this also but was half asleep. Didn't know if it was a real-world scramble or training. Thinking it was more nigh-time training.

Here are the ATC comms for the complete flight. Departed at 23:59 and landed at 01:41 EDT.

COSMIC 41 LiveATC Audio

Mentions vectors to a TOI but I can't tell if it was real world or training ?
COSMICs and MAINE ran a very similar mission maybe ~6 weeks ago but it was around 1400est. They used an almost identical AR route, then MAINE cut the chicks loose near PAX areas and they continued working target intercepts.

Short hop am sure it was training though did not see any usual practice CAP Cessnas up at that time.
Amazing how late at night how many of those Ctr freqs are not even monitored.
Sure did a lot of No Joy freq hopping :)

Sounded like training to me - I doubt an alert launch would wait for a commercial aircraft to land.

Center even gave the tanker a freq of 132.240 duh

Sounds like the TOI was a point in space - they were directed to that point - orbit and then returned.

Part of the problem could be which antenna they were using for ATC. May have been using an antenna that was not optimal for their location related to the RCAG sites.

Technically 364.200 used to be known as NORAD Air Intercept Control Common or AICC.
Could be that 260.900 / 228.900 are more "inland use" while 364.200 is more over the ocean use.

Years ago - 364.200 was very active with PARROT checks and the like ..... maybe this activity has been moved over to Satcom.

n NORAD terminology, "parrot check" refers to a specific procedure involving aircraft transponders, specifically the calibration performance monitoring equipment (CPME) or "parrot" transponders. These transponders are used to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the radar systems used for air defense and tracking.

I looked up the assigned squawk code they used... 7570 - which matches as expected.

7501–7577USReserved for use by Continental NORAD Region (CONR)
