312.175BM180 AUX 07AUX 7 - Air TacticalAMMilitary

Confirm they used 312.175 returning home.

09:28 Sounds like 314.050 is the NASA coordination frequency (heard 806 calling 426)

09:45 The front end of the P3 is coordinating with the ER2 on 123.175 while the back end is on 314.050 with Wallops grd station

Heard NASA 806 checking in "on 314" when he passed my area. Wanted to know if he should follow the P-3 on his way in.

1408hrs, Cape May Herald newspaper reporting several possible sonic booms in the Cape May area.

Wonder if these NJ F-16C guys had anything to do with this, they were flying on the 13th.

Doubt it on take off - but they did come up VR-1709 using the Bay Side of Cape May County. As I explained to others locally, when they do the run up the bay - it is at low altitude and high speed (350-400 mph). That day there was a low cloud ceiling over the bay which can reflect the engine sound really good. Four jets about 5 seconds apart passing any point with those conditions will cause a raukus. I saw them and heard the noise while making a salad in my kitchen (no radio nearby). My daughter asked me what it was and I told her the same explanation.

above is the record from a "earthquake" report page - note most reports listed are right around the bay side.

the next image shows VR-1709 (marked by the gray line - I put red dots on it)

My view of the bay from my kitchen - the fighters generally fly along the line across the PEACE thing hanging in the window.

I was able to catch NASA806 one time last year when it flew out of Bragg for a month or so. While it may not be a USAF U2 that was probably my only chance to ever see that airframe. Best part was all I had to do was walk out my back door to see it.

Some local spotters were spreading rumors it was actually the government spying on citizens along the eastern seaboard. 🙄 Interesting enough nearly all it’s work was either offshore or over parts of Canada.

I checked the KACY LiveATC archives from 0900-1500. The only F-16 departures I heard on the 13th were DEVIL 11 (x5) at 0958 and SATAN 21 (x4) at 1015. On Delivery both flights were cleared to KPAM/Tyndall AFB via ATR-SBY then as filed. On initial departure both were cleared to 7000 feet. As the incident was reported to have happened around 1400 it seems unlikely NJ F-16s were the culprits.

Last year we had the NASA-809 U-2 working up here in late February. Like Terry said it did not track on ADSBX but
did show on flightaware.

Well we get C17s - F16s and A10s regularly on VR-1709 so not sure who it could have been.

Checking KACY LiveATC Approach archives between 1330-1430 EST and they weren't working anyone on VR-1709 nor did I hear anything fast. Does VR-1709 traffic usually call ACY Approach ? I see in the AP/1B that it says it's "recommended".
