I'm just home from witnessing the 108th Air Refueling Wing see off their last KC-135R, which ironically was also the first to come under their care back in 2007. Tail 60-0366 is one of my very favorite aircraft with its colorful tiger-inspired livery, though I would assume that will go away while serving a new career in Maine. Understandably, the ceremony had a distinct melancholy air, capped off as the plane taxied for takeoff, receiving a final salute from hundreds of people at McGuire who flew, maintained, or cared for the 135s of New Jersey.

Is the wing getting a new mission? Aircraft?

Yes, they are migrating to 46s. btw, I did not see the KC-10s supposedly visiting from Travis in CA - they must have been out and about if they're still out here. All I could see were two C-130s and a few each of C-17s and KC-46s. The KC-135R was the only plane I saw in action today.

Earlier from tape WILD-11 DC ANG F-16 declaring emergency before getting offshore areas due to engine overheat light.
1520 local ZDC 307.275 WILD-11 will take Wild-13 as chase direct to Andrews.WILD-12-14 will rtb as pair.
1523 WILD-11 "with emergency req climb to FL300 direct Andrews."
1546 WILD-13 merging with the other 2 ship in the area off Sea Isle mentions W-107. Seems WILD-11 went back on his own.
1622 WILD-13 flight inbound Andrews with info Kilo for runway 1 right.I guess WILD-13 became group leader.
I was out so did not copy their A/A traffic.. Guess everyone made it back ok.

Callsign was HOBEY 11. Maybe in honor of Hobey Baker ?
Could be. Seems their was a 141 Aero Squadron in WW1 that Hobey was Commander with Tiger emblem later the 141 ARW at McGuire.
141st Air Refueling Squadron - Wikipedia. Hobey was an Ivy League Hockey,Football Princeton Tiger :)
On 8 September 1973 By order of the Secretary of the Air Force, the 141st Aero Squadron (Pursuit), demobilized on 19 July 1919 was reconstituted and allotted to the State of New Jersey.
Interesting History.. Never knew that.Saw many times the Hobey callsign out of McGuire. Thanks!

Picked up what I think was a EAM message on the freq 311.000 around 12:00am listening from the New London County area in CT.

Really weak on signal strength but I was able to hear what they were saying.
Yes - there have been A LOT of them over the past couple of days - literally every few hours. Both days had E6 activity.

If you log such things the RAF tail numbers aren't hypenated so its ZP805
I like the hyphen better. RAF will get used to it :)

Show a Westbound AR-20 Res for 11:00 am local till 2PM local FL25-FL280. Not sure who that is for.
That Barksdale Buff LOBO-49 still wondering around somewhere? Altitude Res seems high for a Buff A/R.

It seems like the ramps at McGuire will have very little aircraft on then moving forward!!
