I'm just home from witnessing the 108th Air Refueling Wing see off their last KC-135R, which ironically was also the first to come under their care back in 2007. Tail 60-0366 is one of my very favorite aircraft with its colorful tiger-inspired livery, though I would assume that will go away while serving a new career in Maine. Understandably, the ceremony had a distinct melancholy air, capped off as the plane taxied for takeoff, receiving a final salute from hundreds of people at McGuire who flew, maintained, or cared for the 135s of New Jersey.

Is the wing getting a new mission? Aircraft?
Callsign was HOBEY 11. Maybe in honor of Hobey Baker ?Tail 60-0366 is one of my very favorite aircraft with its colorful tiger-inspired livery, though I would assume that will go away while serving a new career in Maine.

Could be. Seems their was a 141 Aero Squadron in WW1 that Hobey was Commander with Tiger emblem later the 141 ARW at McGuire.Callsign was HOBEY 11. Maybe in honor of Hobey Baker ?
Yes - there have been A LOT of them over the past couple of days - literally every few hours. Both days had E6 activity.Picked up what I think was a EAM message on the freq 311.000 around 12:00am listening from the New London County area in CT.
Really weak on signal strength but I was able to hear what they were saying.
Interesting there is a RAF P-8 hanging out there as well ZP-805 StingRay 02 out of CFB Greenwood
I like the hyphen better. RAF will get used to itIf you log such things the RAF tail numbers aren't hypenated so its ZP805
It seems like the ramps at McGuire will have very little aircraft on then moving forward!!Yes, they are migrating to 46s. btw, I did not see the KC-10s supposedly visiting from Travis in CA - they must have been out and about if they're still out here. All I could see were two C-130s and a few each of C-17s and KC-46s. The KC-135R was the only plane I saw in action today.
