Clipped transmissions at the beginning of a transmission are usually going to be a function of either the scan or the squelch not opening quickly enough. For the former, you can park it on the primary FCLP frequency. For both, there should be settings you can adjust to help the sensitivity (depending on your scanner model).

I will say that a rubber duck antenna will never perform as well as a mobile or base antenna. That is likely the main source of losing bits and pieces of the conversation.
I figured out I had it on CloseCall Priority - even on open squelch it cut out every second or so. Turning CC off fixed it.

Couple flights of MD ANG A-10's went South for range work down Pax River way
both last heard push 269.625. I rarely hear that freq used by them but is Potomac Tracon in Pax River area.

NIGHTHAWK-31 13:25 local inbound Dover AFB for landing with tower UHF 279.625.
They usually switch to 305.200 - "BAYWATCH PAX Advisory" after that.

Thanks.

Check out this STARS TG (this recording unfortunately only scans the NoVa sites). Seems like a state-wide channel for tracking of DMA/VANG aviation resources. Appears that the RRDB label is inaccurate, if anyone has info on the correct AlphaTag/name for this channel, that’d be much appreciated.

The TG has traditionally been 'Pickett Tac', not sure how that's spelled for the Alpha Tag--or if renamed, given that Pickett/Barfoot is no longer Nat Guard HQ. Base is 'Guardian Ops', and I'm presuming located at the RIC AASF. Sometimes I get the idea the Chesterfield may be the home for one or more of these units. (used to be the case, but not so sure these days) RIC is home to the 2/224th (can't remember the company), and I think we also have small detachments of the 1/169th and 1/151st. I think that one flies OH-6's and the other flies UH-72's.

Rare to see US Mil over Mexican skies as are Mexican Mil over US skies.
This DHC-8 Reg (ANX-1230) showing callsign 1200 non stop from Mexico seems heading into Canada...
Maybe Mil pax visit to Canada North Base.

1715- Looks like the 7FTS at Langley is getting some flight time. Dagger 01 went up to DOV, did some patterns, and is now heading back. Around the same time Tonga 01 went up to Martinsburg for some patterns before heading back. Dagger 01 was working ZDC Kenton (354.15)>ZDC Snow Hill (236.825).

Tank,

You might have another chance. Acari 60 (E-6B # 163918) took off from PAX around 1700 EDT and looks to be heading up towards NYC area. Rare to have two E-6s working around the same time frame.
Another E-6 in the area from Tinker GETUP62 #163920 headed Northeast at FL-270.
There is Res up on AR-20 East at 1945 local FL240-FL270. Could be for the E-6.

Thanks. Listening again I hear them refer to TG4529 as "Pickett Tac." Oddly enough TG4567 is also referred to as "Pickett Tac," incorrectly, I assume. Any info on what channel that is, or TG4524, the other commonly used DMA channel?

2032 local "Crazy Weed" up on HF 11175 with 34 character message for EGDNSQ :)
GETUP-62 E-6 continuing racetrack circles up over Conn/RI area.
There is KC-135 from Pittsburgh #58-0074 running NE up AR-20 after relieving PACK-74 who
picked up someone off Nantucket. Thought I heard a 11 Heavy on CYQM feed.

There was a PACK 84 that picked up a C-17 TROCA 03 for a run on AR-20, I believe unrelated to the PIT K35R that is now returning. Earlier on ZBW 46 I heard two "11" flights, one that sounded like SPEED 11 (tanker) followed by the other that sounded like MOULD 11 (receiver) (?). Have not heard either working Gander Center up to 21:00 EDT.

Was listening here on 8891 and was weak in and out but much stronger ground on Gander 5616 but 8891 still busy.
2150 local RCH 526 flight on HF 5616 selcal check.. That would be C-17 #10-0222 Eastbound.
My old Icom IC-R75 still working fine :)
