1415- Couple of Marine KC-130Js in our area. Ranger 41 (#169225) & Ranger 42 (#167925) working Potomac (125.525/119.7)) as they cross over Baltimore. Rangers were supposed to fly over Naval Academy but has cancelled that and will land at BWI (119.4). Stepped out onto my back deck and caught visuals of both as they landed on Rwy33L. Tried to get pics but low cloud ceiling at the time didn't give a clear shot.

1142- Blackjack 4 (Coast Guard MH-65D) working Potomac (119.7) cleared to Wilmington.
They're supposed to fly over the USNA football game tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully that still happens.

Questions to the masters!!

About an hour ago I was receiving an EAM on 11175 USB with no E6 in the air or at least not showing on ADSB. There was an E4 (73-1677) in the air. The question is does a E4 transmit EAM's? I think I know the answer but need to confirm it!!

Thanks to All!!

As far as I know, EAMs can be transmitted from the Pentagon, Raven Rock, E-6B Mercury TACAMO aircraft, or E-4B Nightwatch NEACP aircraft.

Was more fun in older days before Satcoms and cellphones you would hear aircraft with (PP) Phone Patches in flight
on 11175 with Andrews HF base say from a Tanker inbound over Nova Scotia to wife at home.. I'll be there in 5 hours etc.. phone patch terminated.

NAS Pax River's favorite E-6B #163918 last seen down South 10 days ago.. Maybe getting upgrade.

Sec State continuing shuttle diplomacy on SAM-600 tonight.. #98-0002. Maybe headed for home now.

1930 - Chatter on 303.0, five bars, callsign WICKED1-1. Sounds like ISR- directing friendly forces, calling out ‘hostiles’. Mentioned callsigns OXBLOOD and THUNDER and frequency/channel SKYLORD.

1959 - “Oxblood, Wicked11, treeline to your WNW is no activity.”

Confirmed WICKED11 is N745AS from an altitude and speed readout. He mentioned 303.0 as “Fires Secondary”. Also mentioned other frequencies “Aircord” and “Skylord” as well as a JOC.
OXBLOOD appears to be a ground callsign, MUSCLE (11 and 16) are helos, THUNDER is unknown.
HLZ Egret is the landing zone, WICKED heard directing helos to it.

When you say "transmitted" do you mean originated by?

As far as I know lots of places transmit (or re-transmit?) the messages, like every HF-GCCS station (or whatever its called now days).

Has some info, though I can't account for its accuracy

Thanks

The info in there is as good as you'll find on that topic.

Larry Van Horn & Jeff Haverlah both know what they are talking about and have contributed to our hobby for years.
