153.305 is again being heard after nothing for the last few months. Could not hear anything on the reported repeater pairs. Very strong in south Calgary.

Glentel seems to have cannibalized their (Calgary) LTR system to make a Connect Plus system. I'm submitting data to the RRDB now (or will as soon as I pin down the freqs - they're the same, but only two of the four from the LTR system are in use).

Yes I'm hearing them quite a bit lately. Not a peep on the old Channel 2. No analogue or Turbo.

Heard a quick radio check being done on channel 2 EMS dispatch In Leduc. I confirm tone change to 127.3 in analog nice and clear. I have submitted the new information

Not sure what it is, but sure sounds like TRBO on this fequency today. Not hearing anything on 413.4875. I looked at Spectrum Direct and see emission as FXEDN. I also see frequency of 413.3375. Can anyone shed any light on this? Fire going to be unmonitorable?

Just curious - is anyone running either DSD+ or an AOR DV1 (or whatever it's called) on any of these frequencies you guys are reporting?

I did play around with DSD+ on the U of A Hospital channel. I was not impressed with the decode as I could only hear a word here and a word there. I have to admit I should have spent some more time on it and it may have improved. I was using a dongle set up.

I am very interested in the AOR DV-1 but right now it's a bit out of my price range.

Given up on DSD to decode MOTOTrbo

I gave up on DSD, with the price of the Chinese Knock off's MotoTrbo radios on ebay or elsewhere that the direction I went, it and it works like a charm. Oh of course receive only

Still monitoring 418.4875 for long sessions from time to time with the AOR AR DV-1, hearing nothing but continuous data bursts so far and no voice yet.

I was thinking of picking up a CSI750, but there were some rumours of another radio that handles more modes. Which make & model did you pick up? Does it handle the trunked systems?

There are six frequencies in Spectrum Direct that the Calgary Airport Authority is in the process of licensing at the existing domestic terminal. They have an emission of 8K00F1D, which doesn't quite fit the APCO standards for either P25 Phase 1 C4FM or NXDN 12.5kHz data/voice. But then again, emissions are often incorrect in SD (though recently they've been getting better).

Frequencies include:
851.1875
853.2125
856.2625
860.1375
863.7375
864.2125

DMR would fit, but it is licensed as 7Kxxxxx. Could it be for 6.25KHz NXDN?

Some known NXDN and DMR systems in Spectrum Direct are sporting the following emissions...

8K30F1E - ATCO Gas's NXDN96 (wide?) trunk - also an upcoming NXDN96 system for Chestermere FD
11K0F3E - Okotoks Fire NXDN96 conventional (see, there's one that isn't updated)
4K00F1E - Western Midland NXDN96 (narrow?) trunk
7K60FXE - all kinds of MotoTRBO Cap+/Con+ trunked and conventional
11K0F2D - some licenses for users of Calgary's trunk system
13K0F1E - ATCO Electric's P25 phase I system

Calgary Airport Authority already makes significant use of the city type II analog/P25 trunked system.

These channels are also the only ones within the Prairies/NWT/NU section of Spectrum Direct that are 8K00-anything.

According to Harris, that's Phase I P25 (C4FM).

I wouldn't be surprised if that's what these are, since that would fit in nicely with the capabilities of the radios they use for their regular operations. I'll throw these freqs in my scanner conventionally and see if I come up with anything.

462.725

Recently, at least in the south part of Calgary, I have been receiving a strong digital signal on this frequency. Only licensed users from Spectrum Direct is a Quebec company and Canadian National Resources in north eastern Alberta but the types of emission do not show digital. Has anyone looked or been able to monitor this frequency to tell what is going on?

Could it be a hold over from the Calgary Police UHF days? I show 462.7125 as Channel 21 Call sign XLP 636.

Edmonton Police still have licensed and do use a number of their old UHF Frequencies in additional to trunked and conventional and simplex 800 frequencies.

Help with ID'ing stations

OK, I could use some help ID'ing various TGs on the new digital networks springing up around Edmonton.
If you know anything about the kind of conversations, we could try to figure out potential users.

Comms Grp NXDN48 system, CC 422.2875. Only once Voice Channel ID'd so far on 422.4125. You can just park DSD+ on it.

TG 1655 users refer to the North Shop, Pump Alley, the Clean Room. They are doing welding, servicing air lines etc.

TG 1661 a lot less active. Possibly grounds maintenance (returning wheelbarrows for example).

ED Electronics Connection Plus System 305, CC 852.5875 this afternoon. This is a 16 channel system (8 frequencies).

TG 1040 could be a distribution warehouse. Milk #4 trailer 277, door #59 etc, meat trailer 3 to door 66. Talk of trading a 50 footer. Door 33 full of salvage. Back in the LoneStar trailer to door 3.

TG 1250 is a towing company, swapping flats, charging by Km, or billing to other agencies (such as AMA).

TG 1005 seems to be taxi or delivery.

TG 1030 Taxi firm.

There are several other TGs in use, but I haven' caught much traffic on them yet.

WCI Whyte Comms UHF Low, CC 461.1125.
TGID's 200, 401, 801 all seem to be discussing loads. Delivering granite etc. Sounds like one company using all TGs as different channels, but don't know yet.

If you have any insights please share!
Thanks :)
