Mecosta County/H-EVENT17

For the past couple days, Mecosta County has been running the traffic that normally would be on 155.550 on H-EVENT17. 155.550 has been almost completely silent. The only thing I heard on there, was between Central and a DNR unit.
Judging from one conversation, units seem to be learning the radios; as someone accidentally hit the Emergency button, and Central asked units with 800 Mhz radios to turn them off for 15 seconds.
Central Dispatch has RIDs of 3679985 and 3679987(previously seen on TG 3968), County units seem to be using borrowed radios (RID examples-1330166, 1230066, 2500096), and Big Rapids City & Ferris State units seem to have RIDs assigned to Mecosta County, eg. 3543036.
All radios have been handheld so far, no mobile RIDs have shown up, apart from MSP units.

Heard on Big Rapids, Halls Corner, Sunrise Lake, Leroy, and Mt. Pleasant towers

IMO, Mecosta County needs to get EMS off the 154.445 Fire channel. Last winter, a Wheatland Twp. (Remus) Fire unit responding to a PI rolled over on M-20 one mile west of my location. Between Fire & EMS units all responding to both accidents trying to talk on the same channel, there were plenty of missed responses and heterodyne from two units talking at the same time.
Osceola EMS now only tones out on the VHF Fire channel; units now go to TG 3968 after tone-out, and Fire also has proprietary TGs.
Spectrum Health-Big Rapids is the only hospital in this area that hasn't gone to MPSCS for EMS-Hospital communication. The only times I've heard them on 800 are on the Dist. 6 Medical Net and once on 3550 during a county-wide power outage.
McLaren Central, Spectrum Health-Reed City, Cadillac Mercy, Mid-Michigan Clare, Mid-Michigan Gratiot, Spectrum Health-Gerber, and all four Montcalm County hospitals are all on MPSCS.

Wexford County already has some activity on 83P911 (TG 4038).

TG 4223-EMS unit to hospital conversation. Alpena RIDs(EMS unit-9043028, hospital-9043005).
Heard on Bombay tower.
4223 is listed in the DB as Montmorency Co. Common(60COM).

BTW, Mecosta County is still on H-EVENT17.

Mecosta County has been having some bad problems with the Law VHF system for some time. Radio service had been working on it almost daily for weeks. Today, I heard "FCC testing 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10" That is the first time I have ever heard someone IDing as FCC on any radio system. Makes me wonder if there has been some kind of interference with some other radio system or perhaps some spurious emissions from the repeaters.

Mecosta County is back on 155.550. Apparently, they were having tower work done, which would most likely explain the handheld only use on MPSCS.

Does anyone know for certain whether Mecosta Co is in the process of switching over to the digital system?
I have not seen or heard anything definite. thanks for any info any may have

The recent Mecosta County activity on H-EVENT17 was due to the VHF channel being down.
Shortly before that, Central Dispatch was talking to MSP units on TGs 3241(Osceola) and 3242(Mecosta).
Personally, I'm keeping an eye on those 2 TGs if there is a switch.
Mecosta EMS does have the ability to go to TG 3968(67/54COM) to work with Osceola EMS, although I've only heard one instance of that occurring.
The only other instances of Mecosta using MPSCS that I've heard were once during an ice jam near Big Rapids, Emergency Management was on TG 3373(54COM); and in another instance Spectrum Health-Big Rapids was on TG 3550(54HOSP) during a county-wide power outage as a backup to their MED channel.
Osceola County has more MPSCS usage, with Spectrum Health-Reed City, Osceola EMS, and Osceola Fire all with at least some usage.
Maybe the VHF outage will convince Mecosta to switch to MPSCS?

TG 3605 heard on the Adams Park site. Mostly MSU1 communicating with MedComm and checking enroute and on scene. Once I did hear South Kalamazoo County Ambulance asking for permission to transport a patient to Three Rivers Hospital. I am not sure who they were asking permission from.

South County EMS (Callsigns South County 61 & 62) are dispatched by Pride Care Ambulance out of Kalamazoo.

Who is MSU 1? Knowing who that is would help identify the TG.

MSU -1 (Medical Support Unit) is a fly car funded by WMU, K County Sheriff, and the Kalamazoo County Medical Authority. The program puts a WMU medical resident in a fly car to respond to major incidents in Kalamazoo County such as PI accidents, cardiac arrests, and sometimes whatever the hell they feel like rolling on.

You may also hear a MSU-2 if a something happens and a doc is needed somewhere while MSU-1 is busy.

At one point I heard a rumor that some funding was going to change and it was going to become WMU-1, but I havent heard anything more about that.

Thanks for the info RangerConlin! I heard MedComm tell a South County Ambulance to switch to another TG, and they came up on TG 3605. I didn't hear the name MedComm used for the TG very clearly, but what I heard could easily have been "MSU1." So TG 3605 could be 39MSU1.

No problem. I believe that medic trucks will sometimes contact MSU-1 for field orders.

I don't have a digital scanner so I can't help you with who a specific TG is, but if you have any questions about Kalamazoo or Calhoun County I can probably help you.
