BC125AT: My BC125AT says battery error

Hello, I have recently purchased a BC125AT analogue scanner from Uniden. Not until recent days have I come across my scanner not charging and instead say battery error on the screen. The batteries are placed correctly, the switch is on ALK and I am using to two AA Kodak Batteries. Can someone please help me with this issue?

When I hit the switch on the back to go to the other option it then says Charge Off when I try charging.

I don’t own this radio so I’m not sure how that warning is showing up or the exact wording. I I think it just a confusion between alkaline disposable batteries and rechargeable batteries. He’s plugged in alk’s, thinks they are nicads or nmh’s, and wonders why the display reads charging off.

I honestly haven't since I have lost my old pair. I will go look for them but I'm not sure if I'll find them or not. Thank you.

I don't know if they are. No where on the battery nor packaging says rechargeable. Do you know a way to spot if they are or not?

I do have a charging cord which runs to the scanner but no actual charger for the batteries. Thank you for the welcome.

Should say on the battery all the rechargable ones I've ever had did. A separate charger would be the best route.

Okay, I just checked them and it does not say rechargeable. I will follow your advice and get a separate charger soon.

If you are in the market for rechargeables, I went with the IKEA Ladda rechargeable battery route for my BC125AT and am very happy with the performance. Crazy good deal ($16.98 USD) - as of this writing - for a STENKOL charger and four (4) 2450 mAh LADDA AA rechargeable batteries. (link) 🔗
