I just noticed there's a new talkgroup on this system for troop a dispatch.. which site was this talkgroup discovered on? I didn't think there was an active site yet anywhere in troop a...

I logged it a few months back on the Norfolk tower. There was radio testing being conducted with this talkgroup with a voice transmission mentioning "Testing on the Omaha Talk Group" numerous times.

N-Win Activity

I am seeing 5 signal bars on my PSR-600. I have the plattsmouth and Omaha sites loaded. During the day the only icon displayed was the T which indicated receiving of trunking control channels. I have two questions for the group.

I am now receiving five signal bars while scanning N-Win, now I don't see the "T" displayed as I did earlier, just the five signal bars. Is this normal?? The other question, has anyone heard any activity??

The only activity I have heard on Omaha or Plattsmouth sites have been radio techs, NPPD and Troop HQ Lincoln Disp (Omaha site).
I haven't heard any voice traffic on Cedar Bluffs.

Cool man! It was wall to wall traffic up here today:

Norfolk tower:

NPPD Kearney Control
NPPD York Service
NPPD Switching 1, there was a power outage in the east end of Norfolk this morning.
NPPD Switching 2
NSP Lincoln HQ
NSP Columbus Disp
NSP Ainsworth Disp
NSP Norfolk B
NFM District B
TGID 3539, NPPD, lots of radio traffic.

Humphrey tower:

NPPD Kearney Control
NSP Lincoln HQ
NSP Columbus Disp
NSP Grand Island C
NPPD Vehicle Maintenance

Overall I think this is the most voice traffic I have logged over both towers.

I'd imagine Cedar Bluffs is gonna start getting respectable traffic levels soon.

So it sounds like through this statewide system that we can't actually hear statewide traffic unless they affiliate to the tower we are listening on?

That is right.

For instance, In my area, the Humphrey Tower is a good "transition" tower to listen to. I get a garden variety. From HQ/B/C, even North Platte from time to time. I am sure Troop A will pop up here and there once they get going.

Just heard Troop A-Omaha Dispatch TG-3114 on the Plattsmouth and Omaha towers.
Was not able to monitor Douglas County or OPPD sites to see if the same traffic was going over on those sites.
Heard about 3 troopers got 10-76 on the this talkgroup they were calling Omaha.
About time!!

My job brings me into SE Nebraska several times a month. So far I haven't heard anything on the N-WIN system. Perhaps I am programmed wrong. Do I need to set up each site as a separate system, or can I put all control frequencies into one system and assign talkgroups to that system?

Howdy, one and all!

Yep - I've heard quite a bit of NSP Troop A activity on Plattsmouth, along with the usual NPPD traffic.

Right now, I'm compiling a list of Unknown TGIDs that I've captured so that analysis can begin! I think I've caught a full-time Secured TG for Troop A, but need a bit more data to be sure!

Can't wait for Otoe county to come online - should be by the end of this month!

Howdy, Ex!

Depends on what type of scanner you have! For the Unidens, if you have a non XT scanner, I'd go with a single system and all of the CC's and AC's for the East part of the State. For the XT line, I use a single system and THREE sites (West, Central, East) to contain the CC/AC channels. I assigned a unique System Quick Key for each site, giving me the ability to list to the "zone" I want to.

Hope that helps!

Thanks Realgeo. I have the Grecom PSR-600. I'll be in your fair state next week, so I'll see how it works. My territory ranges encompasses the SE portion of NE bordered by Fremont, Columbus, and York. I'm looking forward to some good scanning.

Has any logged any private calls on the system?
Early this morning on the Omaha tower heard a conversation between to troopers. I heard the conversation on my XTS2500, which has the Omaha and Cedar Bluffs towers programmed as conventional. I didn't not receive it on my 996XT or 996T scanners, they are set to ID search mode. I thought that I had the I-call wildcard ID programed in my scanners but I didn't.
So I am concluded that they were using private call, just wondering if someone could verify that.

I have seen Private Calls (I-Call) logged over the Norfolk Tower, but when the I-calls are initiated, I am usually away.

I-Call logged in Pro96com as 700000.

When I am in Omaha long enough, and when I lived there, I have also seen I-Calls logged occasionally over ORION, Same rid-700000.

I have heard I-Call usage is discouraged, due to the fact it takes an entire frequency to complete the call.

Sorry for any bump, if any, but short on time and this is 18 pages long....

Is there any simulcasting with the new system and the lowband system at this time? My area of intrest would be North Platte west to the Wy/Colorado border. I know the troop in Scotts Bluff is NWIN as they use a coupe of the same freq as the Wyoming system, but I am unfamilar with the NHP way of doing business/districts etc.

Essentially I want to know if its worth putting the lowband channels in my old fire radio when I am in state to hear them or will they just be quiet?

If anyone has suggestions for the I80 corridor, and the following counties, that would be great:
Kimball, Cheyenne, Banner, Scotts Bluff, Morrill, Deuel, Keith (North Platte?)

Thanks
