Custom Tables for PRO-96

I'm coming to Lincoln in a couple of weeks. Have a PRO96 using Win96 software. I have seen many custom tables in this thread, but none that specifically point to the Win96 software. I tried one table that had 7 lines, but the custom tables in Win96 only have 5 lines to enter the offsets, steps, Hi, Lo, etc. Also, should I choose 3600CC VHF or 9600CC VHF in the software? If anyone has any custom tables for the PRO96 they can post, I would appreciate it. Thank You.

Kearney area

Good evening all - I'm new to the forum, and re-entering the scanning world after about a 10-year hiatus. My last scanner was a hand-held back when digital wasn't really in use.

I recently purchased a Pro-197 and have gotten the local Kearney/Buffalo County freq's programmed, but am having trouble with the NSP. I have followed some "easier to follow" guides without much success.

I programmed all 4 freq's listed at the Pleasanton tower and used both the wildcard method and programmed in talkgroup IDs. However, I have not heard anything at all yet.

I did read that Trp C went back to conventional freq's due to coverage issues; however that post was several months old.

Any help would be appreciated!

First question is, is the scanner tracking (finding) the system or can it not even see it? Traffic in general on the system light so unless someone is in the area you won't hear a peep.

I live in the Kearney area and traffic is light on the Pleasanton tower but it does have traffic. Try the Atlanta tower. I havn't listen in the last few months and have no expierence with the Pro-197. Used my laptop to program a couple Grecom PSR-600 but that has been a while ago. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. I don't think I have the setup right now to pick up the system - if I stand near a window with the whip and move it around, it will start picking it up (at least it indicates that it is receiving control tower data). The Phelps county tower is almost exactly 30 miles straight-line to my house - further than Pleasanton (10 miles straight-line) so I don't think that will work

Admittedly, my situation is not ideal - my office is in the basement (however I do have a large window) so that makes it hard to receive. Additionally, I don't think I can put an antenna on my roof, as I think it is not allowed per covenants in the neighborhood. I live in a newer neighborhood in North Kearney for the time being. Yet another reason to move to the country ASAP.

I will have to figure out another antenna setup that the wife and budget will allow. If you have any suggestions in the mean time, I am open to hearing them. Thanks!

Snake a cable out the window...
Run one between the cement foundation and the outside wall...
If you have a sat dish, mount one on it and run a cable down..

All cheap and inexpensive, just make it look right by using cable ties, cable nails and not like a 2nd grader did it. No one would notice.

I was out in the Kearney area last month and I heard a good deal amount of traffic off the the Atlanta(Holdrege) Tower and then the Pleasanton Tower when I went to northern Buffalo county.

I use a GRE PSR500. Does the display show a "T" when listening to the NWIN System?

Are you using software? I can send a you file if you are using WIN500.

Regarding the radio receiving traffic from the control tower - if I position it just so, I can get a weak signal from the Pleasanton tower and show the "T" in the upper corner. No joy with the Atlanta tower yet - as I said, it is pretty much 30 miles to the dot from the Atlanta tower to my house as opposed to 10 to Pleasanton.

I think I might be able to snake a cable up the path my radon vent takes to the attic. Fortunately I have all the tools I need to strip and crimp coax, so it is just a matter of buying the connectors and finding a suitable antenna. My siding is vinyl and there's not much in between the roof and shingles - all my insulation lies on top of the drywall that forms the ceiling of the main house. As I said before, not ideal but hopefully I can make it work.

Thanks again for the quick replies - definitely a warm welcome around here!

I am really bothered by poor cable dressing - you should see some of the network closets I have run into. I probably use a few more velcro strips than I ought, but functionality and professional appearance counts in my book!

Trouble programming for NWIN

Hi! New scanner user here with a few questions about receiving N-WIN on my 396XT.

Living in Norfolk, I have NPD EDACS and the conventional sheriffs depts of Madison and surrounding counties working just fine.

But, I hear no traffic on the P25 system I set up for NSP. Also, as it scans the systems, the P25 system for NSP flashes on the screen for a split second, much faster than my conventional and EDACS systems.

A few questions...

Should I see signal bars for the P25 systems, like I do for NPD's EDACS system?

I have the N-WIN system for NSP set as a type of "P25 Standard (Digital XT)". Is this correct?

I have the site set as the same thing. Is that correct also?

I have only set up groups for the Troops near me. Do I need to set up the others?

Thanks for your help in advance!!!

:)

You should set up your system as P25 Standard. The site should just be the frequencies with no further changes. You should set the system as CC only. Your local troop B talk groups should be sufficient. Not a lot of talk traffic on this but should expect a lot Saturday during game/enforcement activities.

Have you tried using software programming?

RE: Norfolk NSP

I found one of my problems. For some reason, the entire system was "Taped Off". I have corrected that, and now NSP shows signal bars and scans as fast as the others, instead of just flashing past.

I am using FreeSCAN.

I don't see an option for CC only. Am I missing it somewhere?

For CC Only on Freescan, rr import trunked systems-options tab. Shows as a default on my software version.
