I was looking through the NWIN freq list this morning and spotted what must be a typo.

1-131 1-83 Chardon-Dawes County 154.33250 154.84500 155.14500a 155.50500c

Is that supposed to be Chadron?

It looks like the Troop D sites are starting to come online. I am on the fringe of 3 Troop D sites from my scanner in Sherman County. Depending on the conditions, I am receiving a control channel on Holdrege, Cozad, and Merna sites. I have updated the DB with site numbers and active control channels for these sites. I have logged talkgroups 3103, 3107, and 3111 but I have not heard enough radio traffic to identify them yet.

Anyone able to identify any Troop D talkgroups yet?

I also picked up 3111 that sounded like North Platte area but I also heard 3113 that sounded like Ogallala area. (used mile markers as reference) Did notice that the audio from dispatch was a lot louder than Scottsbluff. The state is going to have to go a long way to sound as good as WY & SD
the governor said it was a model system but there are already complaints from one group not being able to talk to other groups. I guess with the use of CAD we will be in the dark. One more thing guess there is no backup, phone cable line got cut around Morrill county today and NSP had to use old system, homeland security at it's best!!!

SD using a different type of system. They use a Smartzone with astro voice.
The different "groups" will be able to talk to each other once the system is completed. They will have the Vcall/tac frequencies at every site. Icall/tac frequencies along I-80, panhandle, se neb and by sioux city area. There data/microwave system will be complete around 2012, that will solve the problem if phone lines get cut.
The system has a long way to go before is actually 100% completed.
For audio that can be adjusted. Even Omaha fire portables have been loud since they switch mics so they can use GPS.

tower site question

I live about 80 air miles south of Beatrice. I realize its still Low band in HQ Troop but I'm seriously considering buying a directional antenna and trying to monitor the Beatrice tower from down here in Kansas once they get switched over to P25. I believe that would be my closest tower site to Manhattan, KS. Anybody have any ideas if they are using the same towers they used for low band? I know the Auburn tower is way up about 400 feet or so. I'm not sure about Beatrice ant. height. Point is if they are keeping the ant heights the same I may be able to hear it from that far away if Beatrice is similar to Auburn. Anybody out there monitor the system with a beam/directional ant? If so what kind of range are you getting with the digital VHF system out west? I realize that being up in elevation and many other things come into play on determining how far you're going to be able to hear a tower.

Well here's the kicker, I can pick up the WYOLINK towers east of Bridgeport, some of the freqs. they use will overlap. I can see a problem here, just as Wy uses the same freqs as Harrison P25 . On another note Scottsbluff is dropping the 800 P25 to go VHF, more WY problems & the Torrington Wy tower is not on line yet. If Neb starts going on line near South Dakota there could be some more issues. At this end of the state hearing a tower 100 miles away is not a problem, for example, 1/2 mile north of the NSP dispatch in Scottsbluff I can pick up the Sherman Hill tower (east of Laramie Wy) check it out on a map, scanning here is great!!

Ted

There is a voice channel on the Mitchell tower that is the same frequency as a voice channel on the Sherman hill tower. I was listening to a conversation on the Mitchell tower, all of a sudden the Sherman signal which is closer to me overpowered the Mitchell tower. I suppose it probably wasn't a problem on either end, but was very interesting here in the middle.

A site for Lincoln is pending. It is located on the tower north of I80 by LES wind turbine.

Anyone know the NAC for the system? I believe I am receiving some of the control channels in conventional mode. The signal is too weak to decode the control channel in P25 trunking mode.
I am receiving 155.6775 w/NAC 146 poss the Cozad site.

Enjoyed the read. I am currently getting accuainted with a new GRE PSR600. And doing a spectrum sweep it does not pick up all the P25 traffic like I thought it would. I had to actually plug in the info for the Wyolink system in Wheatland, Virgin Hill, before it would receive it. Anyway I do know that a tower is going up here in Torrington, but for the moment all services are running around using simplex. So do you know any frequencies for this area. It is pretty quiet here.

Thanks

I had an interesting encounter a week or so ago.

i am a commercial drive rand got pulled in for an inspection at North Platte (I passed)
the DOT officer annd i started talking radios after i noticed a 996XT on the desk (set to troop D) i heard him run my DL when he stepped outside.

Aparantly all the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement officers are equipped with 996XT's in their vehicles as well, they love them, so we talked about 45 Minutes - but i didnt have the guts to aks him to let me read the 996XT though :(

from what i gather NWIN is making progress and they do have i-call capability

There is now a Troop C tower online. The Wolbach tower (Site 158) is now transmitting a data channel. I have not heard any talkgroups on this tower yet, but I am listening. I have added this tower to my Central Nebraska Feed.

So far, this is the only Troop C tower that I have heard. My radio is on the fringe of a few Troop D sites, but I should be in range of several Troop C sites when they start coming online.

Listening to some recording provided by cellphone it sounds like NSP has multiple dispatch channels that cover specific areas. Like their low band system.
3111-North Platte area dispatch
3023-Broken Bow area dispatch
3116-Scotts Bluff area dispatch
3022-South Western area of troop C, unknown specific location
If you have any information on which t/g dispatches for which area please submit the info to the database.
