I've had a scanner for about the last two decades and that, with one exception, was the last one I programmed. I did program one for my son-in-law about 5 years ago without any problem, however, with this new Whistler WS 1065 I seem to have gotten lost. Whistler pointed me to RadioReference as a good source and to a needed program (PRS-500) to put data on the scanner. However, I cannot figure out how to get the data from RadioReference into a file that can then be uploaded to the WS 1065 using the program. That is why I'm asking. I know the frequencies I want to listen to, but just cannot figure out how to put them on the scanner without punching a lot of buttons to do it. Help, if you can. Thanks!

This link is for instructions using the PSRedit500 programming software:

You will also need a paid subscription to Radio Reference to use the Radio Reference Web Programming Service (the easiest way to program your scanner):

There are also many instructional videos for that on Youtube.

Okay, so I followed the instructions and my laptop showed that it did something, so why doesn't the scanner show anything? It's like nothing actually was downloaded to it?

There are programming options available through companies like scanner master, if you want to learn yourself Scanner School founder @w2lie will be happy to book a one on one session with you and walk you through each step.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP! I got it! At least part way, I'll figure it out as I go.

Did you make any Scan Lists (AKA Banks)? Did you remember to choose any Scan Lists? Good resources noted below. PSREdit500 is a great program for your WS1065 and Mike is a great guy!

Is Don still in the land of the living? He's gone completely silent, far as I can tell.

Don Starr, the author of the Starrsoft software programs has apparently abandoned his website, products, and customer support. His website is still up and accepting payments to register his software, but many folks here have sent payment for the registration keys and never received them. After trying all avenues to reach Don to rectify the situation, they ended up having to file disputes with their payment service to obtain refunds.

His last post on the forums was over 3 years ago, and as far as anyone knows that seems to be his last interaction with any of his customers offering any kind of support. He last logged into the forums 2 years ago.

He is/has been working for/with Whistler. His latest résumé posted on LinkedIn shows him as a consultant to Whistler Group from "2013 - Present".

And Whistler Wendy mentioned him here in July 2016:

His latest "Experience" entry on LinkedIn shows him as a Sr Embedded Firmware Engineer at USA Technologies Inc. in Colorado from "February 2020 to Present".

As mentioned above, current choices for WS1065 programming software are ARC500 and PSREdit500.

Thanks for the update. I am a PSR-500 fan, and I might have been one of the last recipients of a registration key, when I was putting software on a new hard drive and couldn't find the key I'd had for years. I sent in my $$ and requested a new key, etc.

I wondered what had become of him.
