hey folks, I am having trouble with my Uniden Bearcat trunk tracker V BCD996P2 I am currently using ARC XT to program it. I added all the Orleans county p25 systems/groups/talksites or whatever. I also added the conventional dispatch channels. I cannot hear any p25 channels or anything, only conventional. Is there a setting I am missing or am I doing it wrong. Just need help, I would like to hear units responding and fire grounds radios. HELP!

That's a simulcast system.SDS200 is the tool for the job.Try less or a paper clip for antenna .

is the radio scrolling 'ID SCAN' or 'ID SEARCH' ?
Set the radio to just the Orleans P25 site and either ID search or just select any one Talk Group. You should see some "bars" on the signal dispaly. If it is unstable, you are probably in an area where the radio can't handle the simulcast distortion. Try different locations but be aware that radio, like most scanners, work poorly on P25 simulcast.
Unless you are fortunate to be in a location with the predominant signal from just a single tower, reception will probably be unreliable at best.
The only scanners designed for simulcast are the Unication or the Uniden SDS series.

If you are in Kent, you are halfway between the Kendall and the Waterport-Carlton Rd towers and probably also getting a significant signal level from the Albion tower. Definite worst case situation for simulcast distortion.

you able to pickup the orleans cty control channel?
I just returned this scanner would not pick up genesee county control channel even with my outdoor antenna the sds100 or sds 200 are the only they really work good enough

Genesee county is simulcast and the SDS radios are built to handle it.
the 996 is not and the outside antenna would actually make it worse, as backward as it sounds.

The Johnson Multi-Net was replaced by the P25 system in 2014.
wondering because I was just looking at a picture of east Shelby truck on Facebook I see they have a Ef Johnson mobile in one of their truck that was recently taken.
I didn’t know if they maybe still had as a backup system to the p25 one
Maybe the radio still functions on analog conventional mode frequencies but Multi-Net is long gone.
I remember I couldn’t even listen to multi net on my scanner
