The chief in charge of the Command Van Operator training (Radio Signature 2-7-11), was performing voice checks with Command Van 2-7-2 on TGID 1021 (Fire-Main?), 1011 (JHAT/Special OPS?) and saw a new one pop up..TGID 1014 which wasn't keyed up long enough to determine if it was encrypted/Phase 1 or 2? Sounded like a demonstration of the new system.

2-7-11 (Command Van Training Operator Chief) was testing with 4-2-3 (OEMC Fire Operations Foreman) on TGID 1022, Identified as "testing on Fire Englewood with 4-2-3 on Fire 800".

Two new zones added to the portable radios during the reprogramming..."Fire 800" and "EMS 800". With all the recent problems with the UHF system, might be pushing them a little faster?

It's definitely a separate TG. Can confirm that I'm hearing activity on it as well...

Yes, the talkgroups previously mentioned have been "self-identified" over the past couple weeks...1021,1022,1023,1024..all P25/Phase 1 non-encrypted. 1010,1011,1014..P25/Phase 2 Encrypted no confirmation, but based on Radio ID's..1010 is Command Channel, 1011 is either JHAT/Special Ops/ Haz Mat Channel? Unknown on 1014 as of yet.

Zones are identified as "Fire 800/EMS 800". Unknown on migration date yet.

A Deputy Fire Commisioner just came up on "Main Fire 800" performing a radio check. "Loud and Clear"..."maybe we should switch to this one"..."let me check with some of the chiefs down here"..

All Englewood companies are switching to "FD 800 Zone" Channel 2. Sounds like the OEMC is being patched, no radio ID being displayed..

This is turning into a cluster *****. They're telling Main Fire companies on Citywide Fire to switch back to Main and test their portables. All Englewood companies are on FD 800. If they have any major event that happens, it has potential to be a radio cluster ***. Just switch all fire companies to FD 800, patch the UHF in, and disater avoided. But...no one listens...or do they?

Some sporadic key-ups lately. Today it appears all the OFI (Office of Fire Investigation) units were getting the portables programmed based on the radio ID's being displayed. I also saw a couple of Air Mask unit portables in the mix too. It would "appear" both FD 800/ EMS 800 and the current UHF zones will be in the portable radios. I haven't heard or seen any mobile radios key-ups.

That's it at this time. The airport sites (2&3) are limited in range. O'Hare is using a TETRA system for non-public safety, Midway is using the P25 system.

Thanks Werinshades - I assumed the data would have been updated but wasn't certain. I have been surprised there hasn't been more build out on the infrastructure though in the years since they started.

We keep up with the system. A few of us listen regularly so I'm not the only one making observations and submissions. We know of 3 other licenses but no activity on those frequencies yet. CPD is using the system mainly encrypted. If anything else changes, we'll update.
