TG 1451 popped up. It sounds like a PD so not sure if it’s MPD or a patch from MCSO. Sounded like a traffic stop.
Keep in mind that the ability to fall back to phase 1 is not guaranteed. If the system is being spec'd for phase 2, amd all radios on it have to be phase 2, it may not even allow phase 1 only capable radios to affiliate or register.I get that if a non phase 2 radio joins a phase 1 system that it downgrades to phase 1.
Right, understood. Based on the original document in this thread my assumption is phase 2 is required.Keep in mind that the ability to fall back to phase 1 is not guaranteed. If the system is being spec'd for phase 2, amd all radios on it have to be phase 2, it may not even allow phase 1 only capable radios to affiliate or register.
So MFD dispatch is live n the system?
I wonder if MFD will now actually dispatch(to the respective stations) via this system now? MFD has been the only FD in Milwaukee and Waukesha county that still uses a landline system so perhaps they will now do it "over the air". I'm not talking about the TG for MC FD CALL TG I mean it would be a separate one just for paging/dispatch internally. I'm still trying to figure out if Tosa engine 55 which is the one that now runs out of the old E35 is officially dispatched by Tosa or MFD. I have heard both Wauwatosa and Milwaukee sending them on calls.
There's an option. You have to reboot the radio to ECP mode and go to the the 8CALL/8TAC channels.I found a MPD chase video on Youtube:. The video actually shows an example of one of the shortcomings of Milwaukee's current OpenSky system. The pursuit ended up heading down I-43 southbound almost to Mukwonago. A little after 15 minutes into the video (by now well into Waukesha County) the officers became concerned about losing radio coverage and had to relay the progress of the pursuit to dispatch via telephone. Will this new radio system offer extended range or some type of compatibility with other radio systems, such as OASIS and WISCOM for situations like these? Is there currently an option with OpenSky, such as 8TAC channels?
I agree. Most needed cheat sheets just to change profiles (Event profile, etc).Expecting an officer to be able to follow that procedure, at any time not even considering during a pursuit, is not an acceptable approach to interop.
In some cases an LEO recognizing the need to switch channels, and being able to without coaching, is a win in itself. Expecting anyone to do anything more than possibly switch channels via a hotkey or couple clicks of the channel selector during a pursuit is asking way too much.
